Today, 11th August 2026, Kabale University hosted the Dissemination and Handover Workshop for Proposed Key Biodiversity Areas Supporting Papyrus Endemic BiodiversityUganda at White Horse Inn, Kabale.

Under the theme “Strengthening Biodiversity Conservation through Recognition and Protection of Globally Significant Papyrus Wetland Ecosystems in Uganda,” the workshop brought together the Vice Chancellor as Chief Host, NEMA, Ministry of Water and Environment, district leaders from Kabale, Ntungamo, Rubanda, Rukiga and Rwampara, conservation experts, and community representatives.

Three globally significant papyrus wetland sites were officially handed over to government institutions to guide conservation planning and policy.

Kabale University remains committed to research and partnerships that protect biodiversity and promote sustainable wetland management.

Congratulations to Dr. Sarah Nakato, Head of the Department of Mathematics at Kabale University, for representing KAB on the global stage. Selected from over 2,000 applicants, Dr. Nakato attended two prestigious international mathematics events fully funded by the International Mathematical Union and its Commission for Developing Countries at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia, USA (July 22–30, 2026):

World Meeting for Women in Mathematics (WM)² (July 22): Presented a poster highlighting African Women in Algebra.

International Congress of Mathematicians (ICM 2026) (July 23–30): Delivered a key talk and poster presentation alongside world-renowned mathematicians and Fields Medalists.

Her USA visit followed an intensive research stay at Graz University of Technology, Austria, under the Africa-UniNet collaboration in Algebra & Geometry. Kabale University continues to shine globally through academic excellence and impactful research.

Yesterday was a joyous moment as Prof. Joy C. Kwesiga concluded her university visits with a meeting with the Administration and Support Staff. It was fitting. For 21 years, she reminded us that a university is not just lecture halls and labs. It is the people who register students, keep offices running, secure our gates, and serve with a smile. As she concluded her service, her message was simple: "Your work matters. Today, we say it back to her: Your leadership mattered. HISTORIC LANDMARK FOR KABALE UNIVERSITY! We are thrilled to announce that Kabale University has been competitively selected to host Uganda’s national Artificial Intelligence (AI) Node under the East African Regional AI Network (AI4EAC)! Out of over 140 applications across East Africa, our strategic consortium has secured this prestigious position.This massive milestone was officially declared during the 17th Inter-University Council for East Africa (IUCEA) Annual Conference in Nairobi. Kabale University has officially welcomed eight Technical Aid Corps (TAC) experts from Nigeria, marking the arrival of the 6th TAC cohort to the University. The highly qualified scholars, all holding PhDs, will serve for two years across the Kabale University School of Medicine (KABSOM), Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences, and Faculty of Science, strengthening teaching, research, mentorship, and international collaboration. We are delighted to welcome them to the Kabale University community and look forward to the lasting impact of their expertise.

Kabale University today hosted Mrs. Jane Kyarisiima Mwesiga, Deputy Head of the Public Service and a delegation from the Ministry of Public Service for a strategic engagement to strengthen performance management and service delivery within the University
The discussions centered on enhancing performance management implementation, aligning institutional practices with Government policies, promoting professionalism in public service, strengthening governance, and improving service delivery standards across the University.
