A bicycle day around the world begins with a single pedal stroke. Yesterday, youngsters had the bicycle day under the theme, "Biking to learn."
The youngsters showed excellent control, balance and coordination, handled the equipment and tools effectively stipulating a great improvement in their gross and fine motor skills.

In honor of Drop Everything and Read Day (DEAR Day) today, HISU's staff, students and parents had quality time reading their favourite books whilst dressing up as their favourite book characters.
Drop Everything and Read Day is one of the adventures through which we promote the reading culture and learning culture amongst all our learners.

On 8th March 2022, Kya Lonsdale (Year 11) and Skye Burridge (Year 6) represented Horizon International School Uganda at the inter-school equestrian competition at Flametree stables Gayaza, Uganda.
Competing in the intermediate category, Kya and Skye showed off their skill, composure, and control in the three events; equestrian test (control through the course), showjumping, and cross country.
The girls' passion and dedication for horse riding paid off as team Horizon came in first place with Skye coming in first place for the equestrian test and cross country events.

During Teacher Stephen's Art class today, was taken through the Cubism style in painting. Cubism remains one of the most influential art movements that is known around the world.

Owlypia is an exciting International competition where young minds share their creative ideas, develop their multi-disciplinary academic skills, develop collaborative teamwork skills among other skills.

Students are taught to show professionalism and have positive team attitudes alongside their class work.

Last week, HISU's Duke of Edinburgh community stepped out to Sipi falls, Kapchorwa (Uganda) for their Adventurous journey program.
Students had team building activities inspired through adventure and discovery journeying in unfamiliar and challenging environments, helping them build resilience and team work skills along the way.

: Saturday 12th February 2022 was our annual Sports Day. It was filled with sportsmanship, enthusiasm, and memories to cherish.
With numerous games like obstacle races, around the world, cone races, ninja warrior, javelin, 100m races, the tag of war among others, students, parents, and staff showed impressive participation throughout the day.

Today, we throw back to our recent annual Sports day that was held on 14th, December 2019.
The day started with a health walk themed "Health is wealth" from Jinja city to our premises, and thereafter the day's sporting activities took shape.
It was a day full of fun and competition as all the houses were fully represented by their competitors from Early Years to the senior students.

In their Science class today, students explored the animal respiratory system and lung dissection in detail, and further looked at some of the interesting facts about lungs.
They discovered that lungs float on water, and inflate when air enters them through the alveoli among other facts.

In their music class today, students were introduced to the piano C finger 5 position extension.
Students were able to learn the wrist position, memorized solfa notations by ear, and after played a song dubbed "Mary had a little lamb" in the C finger position.

Yesterday, Horizon International school Uganda had the pleasure to host Ms. Vanessa Nakate, a renowned international climate change activist for a 'Climate Change and Environment Care' talk with our students.
She urged students to undertake educational and public awareness campaigns on climate change, and to engage in programs both in and outside school that will aid in making the world a better place for us all.
