Today, Pope Leo the XIV released his first apostolic exhortation Dilexi Te ("I Have Loved You"). This first major teaching from the Holy Father takes the Catholic Church to task, with a passionate call for solidarity with the poor and marginalized, and calling charitable works "the burning heart of the church's mission."

A missionary at heart, Pope Leo XIV reminds us all that the Church's mission so to follow Jesus' example by taking up the mantle of social justice in defending the most vulnerable among us.

"As we contemplate Christ’s love, 'we too are inspired to be more attentive to the sufferings and needs of others, and confirmed in our efforts to share in his work of liberation as instruments for the spread of his love.'"

October is dedicated to Mission and praying the rosary - making it the perfect time to pray the World Mission Rosary. Each decade of the World Missionary Rosary symbolizes a specific area where the Church continues its evangelizing mission:

GREEN represents the forests and grasslands of AFRICA.
BLUE symbolizes the ocean surrounding the ISLANDS OF THE PACIFIC.
WHITE signifies EUROPE, the seat of the Holy Father and shepherd of the world.
RED calls to mind the fire of faith that brought missionaries to the AMERICAS.
YELLOW represents the morning light of the East, symbolizing ASIA.
