Kampala International University Teaching Hospital has moved to position itself as the go-to health facility in the greater Bushenyi sub-region by making improvements in its equipment, human resource and service delivery. The hospital recently made structural changes in its human resource at all levels, notable of which was the replacement of the position of Executive Director (ED) with that of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) as well as Deputy ED with Director of Clinical Services and Deputy Director of Clinical Services.

According to the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the hospital Isma Bagala - yet another human resource upgrade – customer care has improved from the point of entry to the point of exit. “We have more patient guides to guide patients to the different sections of the hospital as well as medical staff checking on patients in the wards all the time,” Bagala says
“This reduces the time a patient spends in the hospital unlike before when someone would come in at 9:00 am and leave at 6:00 pm,” he added.

The hospital has also procured the latest equipment in all the laboratories, including a state-of-the-art CT Scan in the radiology lab,the only one in the greater Bushenyi sub-region.

Dear Colleagues,

Very sad news! With deep sorrow, we announce the death of Dr. Mugarura peadiatrian who succumbed to a terrible RTA this previous night. Dr. Douglas Mugarurra was a Paediatrician who was working with us and attached to KIU. He died in a tragic motor accident along Gulu - Kampala high way.The accident was around kafu along masindi kampala highway. They were travelling back from Moyo after facilitating a workshop on new guidelines for management of severe acute malnutrition. The body is Kiryadongo hospital. MHSRP.
