Welcome to the official facebook website of Mandela Secondary School, Hoima. We are a leading education centre in the whole of Bunyoro region and mid-western Uganda and among the top 10 schools in Uganda as of the ranking of 2012 results. Mandela Secondary School fraternity is dedicated to providing all-round education to the students enabling them to cope with the challenges of the fast changing

world today. As of April 2012, Mandela SS was the largest Secondary school in Bunyoro region with a combined student enrollment of 1800. Mandela Secondary is famous for its academic excellence at National Examinations as well as a wonderful performance in games and sports. It is not questionable Mandela SS Hoima is the number one choice for Secondary Education in Bunyoro region. In 2012, the best student scored all the points (25 POINTS IN PCB/M) and had 69 students scoring above 20 points.

Congratulations, Dr. Musiimenta Collins!

Mandela Secondary School, Hoima is thrilled to celebrate the success of Dr. Collins, a former star student who achieved a perfect 8-in-8 during his O-Levels at our school. He continued his journey with the school at A-Level, studying Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.

After scoring an impressive 18 points, Collins secured a place at on Government scholarship at Makerere university to pursue a degree in Medicine and Surgery. Today, we celebrate his achievement as a true reflection of the school’s mission and vision: providing a holistic education that fosters mental, moral, and physical growth.

Mandela SS Hoima is dedicated to distinguishing itself through academic excellence in both the Arts and Sciences. Dr. Collins’ journey exemplifies our commitment to developing well-rounded individuals who contribute to the growth and success of our community.

STUDENT SPOTLIGHT

Alinaitwe Stella Rayan
BCM Class of 2025–2026.

Alinaitwe Stella Rayan joined Mandela Secondary School, Hoima (MASSH) in 2020 in Senior One after scoring 14 aggregates from Kigedde Muslim Primary School in Kikuube District. Her choice of MASSH was inspired by the school’s strong culture of discipline and academic excellence.

During her first four years at MASSH, Stella thrived in both academics and co-curricular activities. She was an active participant in sports, representing the school in football, basketball, and volleyball. Notably, she played on the girls’ basketball team, which emerged Regional Champions at the 2024 USSSA Ball Games—an achievement she proudly holds as one of her most memorable school moments.

Academically, Stella emerged as the best student in the 2024 UCE examinations at both school and regional level, scoring A,A,A,A,A,A,A,A,A,C as part of the first cohort under the new O-Level curriculum. She attributes her success to the school’s supportive academic environment and dedicated teaching staff.

Impressed by her journey, Stella confidently joined the A-Level campus, where she is currently pursuing Biology, Chemistry, and Mathematics (BCM). Her ambition is to become a medical surgeon, driven by the desire to be the first medical doctor in her family and to serve her community’s health needs.

Stella describes MASSH as an institution that nurtures academic excellence, discipline, talent, and character: living true to its motto:

Kindly take note that our official opening date of the first term of the new year is 10th, February 2026 as opposed to that earlier communicated in the end of year school circular.

This is done in compliance to the directive of the ministry of education and sports.

Admission of new students is on going for classes of S.2,S3 and with a few vacancies in Candidate classes.

It's been quite a year, with many highs and lows. So unfortunate that some lost dear ones (RIP).

As an institution, we stand to bless the Lord for the far he has brought you and us. The academic year 2025 was truly epic, and we thank God for enabling us to get it to a close, with our continuing students successfully sitting for their promotional exams and returning home.

It's also important to note that candidates sat for their mandatory end-of-year national exams with ease and success.

To our dear parents, as well as to all stakeholders of the school, including alums and well-wishers, we appreciate the unwavering trust and support you have continuously shown us.
