G.J.S – NEWS OUTBREAK
We as a nursery bed of democracy we groom leaders democratically by girls electing their own leaders annually. This year a total number of ninety six girls applied aspiring to become prefect candidates for the year 2013.
The Electoral commission of Gayaza Junior School, staff and house mothers screened these girls and twenty six girls were shortlisted. The chairperson invited their parents for a meeting and they agreed to support their daughters by printing posters using their girl’s recent photos.
On Sunday 19th November, 2012 at 2.00pm, the open campaigns were held at the school and the parents of these candidates were present to witness the occasion. After this girls went on with their private campaigns up to Tuesday 20th November 2012 at 8.00pm.
The casting of the votes started at 2.00pm on Wednesday 21st November, 2012. This took only two and a half hours. At exactly 5.30pm the counting of the votes started. At a quarter to 6.00pm, the chairperson declared the following who went through unopposed;
1. Nakandi Priscilla - Headgirl
2. Tumushabe Angel - Assistant Headgirl/dining Prefect
3. Mula Grace - Lost Property prefect
4. Assimwe Hibah – sick bay prefect
5. Namono Ingrid – M.D.D prefect
6. Nambajjwe Jovia – Dormitories prefect
And the following competed through the ballot;
