We are deeply saddened by the passing of our Law student, Nankandwe Patricia, who was due to graduate this October.

Patricia tragically lost her life in an accident while traveling back from Gulu, yesterday 20th August, 2026.

She will be remembered for her warm smile, gentle spirit and the light she brought into the lives of those around her. A smile that could light up a room at a glance; a candle flame suddenly blown away by the wind.

We extend our deepest condolences to her family, friends, classmates, and the entire university community.

Muteesa I Royal University Benchmarks Nkumba’s eLearning System

Muteesa I Royal University has turned to Nkumba University for lessons on digital learning, with a delegation visiting the institution on Thursday 20th October to benchmark its eLearning ecosystem and explore areas for possible collaboration.

The delegation, comprising Mutesa I Royal University Academic Registrar Dr Musisi, Dean of the Faculty of Business Dr Bwowe and the university’s Information Technology team lead Dr Kigundu, held engagements with Nkumba University’s eLearning Unit and the Office of the Academic Registrar.

Nkumba University eLearning Officer Joseph Lwevuze said the visiting team was particularly interested in understanding the institution’s eLearning ecosystem and how different components of the unit work together. “They wanted to understand the process right from tcontent digitalization up to the point of access by the learner. Nkumba, Eco Water Seals Partnership Deal to Install Drinking Water Refill Station

Nkumba University has entered into a partnership with Eco Water to establish a cashless drinking-water refill station at its Entebbe-based campus, aimed at improving students’ access to safe drinking water and reducing reliance on single-use plastic bottles.

The proposed partnership, which took centre stage today, 20th August, 2026, will see Eco Water install internet-enabled smart water dispensers that allow students and staff to refill reusable bottles using cashless smart cards.

Speaking during the engagement, Eco Water team leader Daniel Kauta commended Nkumba University management for moving swiftly to approve the partnership, saying such arrangements often take considerably longer due to institutional bureaucracy.

Eco Water’s Brenda Ahurira, who led the initiation meeting on 30th July, said the partnership could also create opportunities for students beyond access to drinking water, including internships, graduate training and exposure to industry.

Nkumba University Secretary Francis Ssengendo said that the proposal was first presented to university management by Deputy Vice Chancellor Dr Sulaiman Bbosa before being taken through the relevant institutional structures for consideration and approval.

He is optimistic that the over 10,000 University population creates a substantial demand for accessible drinking water across campus. “This justifies the market for the water initiative. “We want to have clean water on university premises for our students, staff and the surrounding community. This is really important.”

Under the proposed agreement, Nkumba University will provide a 25-square-metre outdoor space in front of Wava Complex with access to water and electricity for the refill station. The university will also designate a liaison officer to coordinate implementation and mobilize students to embrace the safe-water refill programme.

Ssengendo expressed optimism that the partnership would become part of the university's everyday campus ecosystem. He thanked Dr Bbosa for spearheading the initiative and Edwin Kamara for pushing the partnership, saying the university's decision reflects its commitment to improving the student experience.

Centenary Bank Lauds Nkumba University Partnership

Centenary Bank has thanked Nkumba University for the partnership, describing the institution as one of its most valued customers as the bank marks Customer Week.

The remarks were made by the Centenary Bank Najjanankumbi Branch Manager during a courtesy visit to Nkumba University, where bank officials delivered a token of appreciation to the university in recognition of its continued partnership. "This is our Customer Week, so we are giving back to our customers and appreciating them for giving us business and supporting our growth. Nkumba University happens to be one of our key partners, and we appreciate the relationship we have built over the years,” said Ronald Bugembe, Branch Manager, Najjanakumbi.

Bugembe said, the bank uses the Customer Week engagements to strengthen relationships with its clients, gather feedback and introduce customers to new products and digital banking solutions.

Among the innovations highlighted was the bank’s mobile application, which enables customers to access a range of banking services remotely.

The bank also encouraged the university to utilise alternative banking channels, including corporate internet banking, to facilitate salary payments, money transfers and other financial transactions.

The engagement also provided an opportunity for Centenary Bank officials to receive feedback from the university and identify areas where services can be improved.

Centenary Bank Regional Manager, Namata Judith, who delivered the token of appreciation, said the gesture symbolised the bank’s gratitude for Nkumba University’s continued partnership and support.

The bank and the university have maintained partnerships in areas including banking services and Cooperate Social Responsibility -related initiatives, with Centenary Bank reaffirming its commitment to strengthening the relationship.

The Customer Week engagement is part of Centenary Bank’s efforts to appreciate its customers while promoting innovation, digital banking and stronger customer relationships.

Law Freshers Urged to Build Academic, Professional and Social capital

New students at Nkumba University’s School of Law have been urged to prioritise academic excellence, professional networking and personal responsibility as they begin their legal education.

The advice was delivered during the School of Law’s orientation held on Monday, August 17, 2026, at Mpanga Library.

The keynote speaker, Benson Kwikiriza, the Chief Supervisor for KCCA Litigation, challenged the budding lawyers to focus on three key areas: maintaining a strong academic record and improving their CGPA, building meaningful social networks and capital, and taking advantage of the responsibilities and opportunities available to them at university.

Ronald Williams of the Uganda Christian Lawyers Fraternity encouraged the students to embrace Christian values as they prepare for careers in the legal profession. He also highlighted the importance of legal ethics and professional networking.

The Dean School of Law, Counsel Witness Nabalende, emphasized academic discipline and adherence to the institution’s dress code, urging the students to maintain professional standards from the beginning of their university journey.

Law Society Patron, Counsel Kigozi, cautioned the freshers against poor class attendance and sexual harassment, urging them to uphold discipline and respect for others.

Meanwhile, fourth-year law student Katende Muhammed shared practical guidance on navigating university life, drawing on his experience as a continuing student.

Alumnus Counsel Kigongo Imran encouraged the new entrants to explore entrepreneurship alongside their studies and invest in building social capital, which he said can be valuable in their future professional careers.

The orientation of new students at Nkumba University’s Kampala Campus was held earlier today.

Students were guided on the expectations and responsibilities that come with university life, including the need to uphold discipline, observe institutional regulations and conduct themselves in ways that support a successful academic experience.

The orientation was followed by the students’ oath of allegiance, during which they pledged to uphold and abide by the University’s statutory instructions and regulations.

Deputy Vice Chancellor, Dr. Sulaiman Bbosa, welcomed the new students to Nkumba University and thanked them for choosing the institution as their academic partner.

Dr. Bbosa urged the students to remain focused on the purpose for which they joined the University, emphasising that a clear sense of direction would be critical to their success. “Thank you for choosing Nkumba University. Those who know our history understand that whoever chooses to walk this journey with us, the end result is always success. However, do us a favour, know why you are here and stick to that,” he said.

He encouraged the students to embrace the University’s values, take their studies seriously and make responsible choices throughout their academic journey.

The orientation provided an opportunity for the new students to familiarise themselves with the University’s expectations, academic environment and institutional culture as they begin their University journey.
