Victorian High School Entebbe formerly German secondary school Uganda has support from Germany through a Society that was established to help some of the school program. This is being managed from Germany by Anke and Marcel. From the Ugandan side we registered a Non Governmental Organization in the name of the Lernplusfoundation that is overseeing and helping to raise support for the school develo
pment. Our school project extends a number of good will programs to communities around young German volunteers who are sent through the school as their main receiving organaisation and are then placed in various institutions within Entebbe to execute their voluntary work. These mainly include, TASO Entebbe, primary schools, orphanages, babies’ homes amongst others. The school also retains two of the volunteers and they help out mainly in co-curricular activities like sports, music, dance, theatre and German language conversation classes. The volunteers also work hand-in-hand with the students to execute the various communal activities like school gardening in keeping Entebbe Municipality green and clean. Since the school started we have hosted over 80 German volunteers, who have benefitted from broadening their minds with the new African culture and skills they learn while in Uganda. It is our hope that in future, we will create more partnerships with other German institutions and people to provide opportunity for our Ugandan students too, to be able to have an exchange program of visiting Germany to benefit the same way. The language centre
A sister project to the school, which offers language classes to the adults and other members of the community. The languages include; German, French, Kiswahili, English and Luganda. The Language Centre uses the Victorian High school facilities for their activities. German Language Festival
An annual festival involving all schools in Uganda, teaching the German language as well as promoting the German culture. The Victorian has participated in the festival since 2009. Bayimba Cultural Festival
In order to promote and nurture the students’ talents, every year the school’s Art Club participates in the Bayimba Cultural Festival and get a chance to reach out to the community through presenting their own art work as well as meeting the professionals in this discipline. Under 17 football Tournament
Every year, there is always a football tournament in Entebbe, organized by our school and the language centre. This is usually aimed at promoting talents of the young Ugandans as well as enhancing education through sports. This year, the tournament attracted 14 secondary schools in and around Entebbe through the four days. Nkumba Secondary School emerged the eventual winners.
