He is an individual known for his self-motivation, determination, and courage. Rambo sometimes finds himself caught in difficult situations, especially when he starts fights that he cannot sustain. His favorite food is pineapple, although he also loves tomatoes and carrots.

In the wrong hands, these gathered forest products can be dangerous. Today, Tamtam returned from the forest carrying a piece of dry wood and shortly afterward used it to threaten other chimpanzees. We have witnessed her use such objects as weapons, although fortunately, she has not hurt anyone.

The forest where chimpanzees live provides everything they need to survive and thrive. From food and nesting materials to objects they can use for exploration and play, the forest is an essential part of their lives.

Chimpanzee Trust is pleased to partner with the Wildlife Clubs of Uganda (WCU) in promoting environmental education and wildlife conservation among young people.

Today, we received a consignment of education materials from the Wildlife Clubs of Uganda for distribution to schools, helping inspire the next generation of wildlife champions.

Our initial focus is on schools within the Albertine Rift region of Western Uganda, where participating schools will also enroll as members of the Wildlife Clubs of Uganda. Through this partnership, we aim to empower learners with knowledge, foster a love for nature, and encourage active participation in conserving Uganda’s rich biodiversity.

Together, we are nurturing a generation that values and protects wildlife for the future.

Meet Eddy, one of the amazing chimpanzees of Ngamba Island!

Eddy is a unique character whose personality has captured the attention of many visitors and caregivers. Whenever he wants something, he isn’t shy about expressing himself—he cries and screams until he gets noticed! Despite his dramatic way of communicating, Eddy is remarkably gentle. He never takes food from other chimpanzees by force and prefers to wait his turn.

Many of you know Eddy as the famous “rock thrower,” but there’s another side to him. Beneath his bold reputation is a kind and gentle chimpanzee with a personality that’s impossible not to love.

Every chimpanzee at Ngamba Island has a story, and Eddy’s is one that reminds us just how unique and fascinating these incredible animals are.

The legacy of Rajiv Ruparelia (RIP)continues to inspire conservation efforts and a commitment to protecting wildlife. On 20 June 2026, Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Sanctuary was honored to receive additional support from the Ruparelia family through the naming of a chimpanzee, RR (Rajiv Ruparelia).

This meaningful gesture reflects the family’s deep passion for conservation and their dedication to the protection and welfare of chimpanzees. We extend our sincere gratitude to Sudhir Ruparelia and the entire Ruparelia family for their unwavering support and generous contributions to the care, wellbeing, and conservation of chimpanzees at Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Sanctuary.
