The Crossroads International | Carrefour International Annual Scholars & Partners Forum 2026 was a meaningful opportunity to reflect on the impact of the Scholars for Social Change (SSC) project and strengthen partnerships that empower young people.
Bringing together Scholars and 24 partner organizations, the Forum created space to share achievements, lessons learned, and explore opportunities beyond the project’s first phase, which concludes in September.

A key highlight was the Marketplace Session, where partner organizations showcased their work and shared internship, employment, fellowship, and other opportunities available to Scholars as they transition into meaningful careers.

We are proud that ASHWA received a Certificate of Recognition for our commitment as an implementing partner in the SSC Project. This recognition reflects our dedication to creating lasting impact through youth empowerment, collaboration, and sustainable development.

Today, we have joined ChildFund Uganda, community leaders, and Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSLAs) from across Busia District for a learning and experience-sharing dialogue aimed at identifying best practices, challenges, and innovations emerging from community-led savings and livelihood initiatives.

Representatives from communities in Dabani, Masinya, Buhehe, Buhasaba, Lumino, and Majanji shared inspiring stories of how VSLAs are helping households strengthen financial resilience, support children’s wellbeing, grow small businesses, improve access to education, and respond to community challenges.

One key lesson stands out: when communities are empowered to save, learn, and lead together, sustainable development becomes possible.

As a partner supporting community systems strengthening, youth empowerment, and livelihoods in Busia, ASHWA values these opportunities to learn directly from communities and contribute to scaling approaches that work.

We appreciate ChildFund Uganda, community facilitators, VSLA leaders, and all participants for their commitment to building stronger and more resilient communities.

Menstruation is not just a women’s issue, it is a community conversation.
Our male staff are using their voices to challenge stigma, promote understanding, and encourage support for menstrual health and hygiene. When men are involved, we create safer, more informed, and more supportive spaces for girls and women.

Today, ASHWA had the privilege of hosting a team led by the Regional Coordinator from UDHA for a productive engagement with our Community-Led Monitoring (CLM) team and advocates.

The engagement focused on the analysis of data collected from 10 health facilities, which will serve as evidence to inform advocacy efforts aimed at improving health service delivery within communities.
During the session, CLM advocates were oriented on developing position papers based on key issues identified from the facilities, as well as the implementation roadmap for upcoming advocacy activities scheduled for next week.

The discussions provided a valuable opportunity to reflect on field experiences, assess progress, identify gaps, and explore practical strategies for strengthening accountability and enhancing community-centered healthcare services.
We remain committed to data-driven advocacy and meaningful community participation as key drivers of sustainable impact. We appreciate the continued collaboration and dedication of UDHA and our CLM advocates as we work together towards healthier, empowered, and informed communities.

For over a decade, we have remained committed to empowering communities, advocating for the rights and wellbeing of young people, women, and vulnerable groups, and creating opportunities that inspire hope and transformation. From education and health initiatives to community empowerment and peace building, every milestone has been made possible through the dedication of our team, partners, volunteers, and the communities we serve.

As we mark this 11-year journey, we reflect with gratitude on how far we have come and look forward with renewed commitment to creating lasting change and building empowered communities for a better tomorrow.

Today, we were honored to host the team from for a Monitoring & Evaluation engagement visit.

This visit provided a valuable opportunity to reflect on the progress of the Scholars for Social Change program, funded by the . Through meaningful conversations with our Communication, M&E, and Operations Scholars, the team explored scholars’ experiences, emerging outcomes, and stories of change, while also identifying areas for growth and improvement.

We deeply appreciate such engagements that not only strengthen accountability but also create space for learning, adaptation, and continuous improvement. We remain committed to empowering young people with the skills, exposure, and opportunities they need to drive social impact in their communities.

Yesterday we had the privilege of participating in the District Water and Sanitation Advocacy Meeting organized by the Busia District Local Government.
The engagement brought together key stakeholders from government departments, NGOs, and the water and sanitation sector to reflect on the FY 2025/2026 performance and align on priorities for 2026/2027.

Discussions highlighted the importance of:
✔️Strengthening collaboration across sectors
✔️Enhancing community access to safe water and sanitation
✔️Promoting sustainable and inclusive WASH interventions

We value such platforms that foster dialogue, accountability, and collective action toward improved community health and wellbeing. We remain committed to contributing to solutions that ensure equitable access to water, sanitation, and hygiene services, especially for vulnerable communities.
