At another Warsaw refugee center (3000 beds) Joanna Niewczas helped us locate an additional 4 refugees (Xena & Helena from Kharkov; Anja & Valeria from Kyiv) that are very much looking forward to their stay in the Netherlands

We met Joanna Niewczas at the Warsaw reception point of The Central Sports Centre Torwar. She has been a full-time volunteer leader, co-managing a facility of 500 beds for refugees, organizing meals from local restaurant owners, co-orchestrating registration of refugees, matching refugees with transport and long-term housing solutions, addressing health and mental needs, while upping the ante for the Polish authorities to do more via her presence on TV and news outlets. What an amazing inspiring woman!! She also helped us with finding our first two refugees (Olena en Platon) to bring to the Netherlands. Another big thank you Joanna!!

It was humbling to meet Pawel Mystkowski today. A truly amazing Polish individual who from the first day of the war has been shuttling refugees from Ukraine to Poland. From Zjytomyr, Kyiv to Warsaw. He became a regular visitor to the Zjytomyr school shelter and on his next trip he will be doing the last-mile delivery of the medicines, food and other goods to Vasily and team. Big thank you Paweł Mystkowski!!

Just across the border of Ukraine, Poland has turned a Tesco shopping mall into a refugee shelter and transport junction. Orchestrated by the Polish army, food is provided, sleeping cots are setup in former mall shops. One can register with the local authority with your passport and your transport offering is being matched with refugee needs in real time.
