Dear Friends, right now we are thinking of restarting our weekly Speaking Club to distract ourselves from everything that’s been going on, meet our old and new friends and, of course, practice our English, so we can use it for support of our country by sharing information with the world.

We do also have an idea for Speaking Club to be even more useful and so it will be open for donations (in any amount and voluntarily only!)

Please, let us know what you think and weather you are planning to join.

Looking for something interesting to do this evening? Come join us at 19.00 for some fun and free English conversation!

You'll have plenty of time to talk with and listen to a native speaker and practice your spoken English!
All are welcome, but it's more enjoyable if you are at least on an Intermediate level. 😉

Нонсенс?. або в якому ще значенні вживається «Give or take»?🤔

They will be ready at 4, give or take.
She’s around 30, give or take a year.

Забудемо на хвилинку про дослівний переклад give та take, і подумаємо про смисловий. Give - щось дати або додати, take - щось взяти або забрати.

А якщо умовно зобразити додати + і забрати - ?
Отримаємо те ж значення, що й в українській мові. Плюс - мінус!
Give or take = плюс - мінус

Вони будуть готові в 4, плюс-мінус.
Їй біля 30-ти років, плюс-мінус рік.
До Нью-Йорку залишилось 200 миль, плюс-мінус.
