Uzhhorod National University has taken another important step in strengthening international research cooperation! 🇺🇦🤝🇷🇴

Our researchers participated in the kick-off conference of the ETALON project, implemented under the Interreg VI-A NEXT Romania–Ukraine 2021–2027 Programme. The initiative aims to develop a modern cross-border educational ecosystem focused on energy efficiency and renewable energy🌱🔋

During the meeting, partners discussed the project’s implementation, future activities, and innovative educational solutions. UzhNU representatives presented the university’s scientific achievements, research infrastructure, international project experience, and innovative developments in advanced materials and sustainable energy technologies🧪💡

The ETALON project will contribute to the creation of Energy Labs, a digital learning platform, new training modules, energy audits, and educational activities for students, professionals, and local communities🎓💻

After a five-year break, the Uzhhorod Regatta returned, bringing together teams for a day of sports, teamwork, and community spirit—all while raising funds to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine💙💛

Uzhhorod National University proudly joined the revived tradition with a team from the Faculty of Information Technologies Факультет Інформаційних Технологій УжНУ, competing under the symbolic name "Boole" in honour of the English mathematician George Boole. The name reflects the idea that 1 + 1 = 1 in Boolean logic—a powerful symbol of unity, cooperation, and teamwork🤝💡

🏆 Taking part in the regatta was not only a sporting challenge but also an opportunity to support a meaningful cause and contribute to one of Uzhhorod's most beloved traditions.

Uzhhorod National University took part in the Second Transnational Project Meeting (TPM2) of the Erasmus+ Rural Skills project in Bursa, Türkiye. Hosted by Sual Hub, the meeting brought together international partners to review project progress, coordinate upcoming activities, and plan the next stages of empowering rural communities through vocational training, digital innovation, and sustainable development🤝🌱

During the working sessions, partners discussed:

🧺 Where hands remember the willow… 🌿

Some traditions are more than history—they are living memories passed from one generation to the next. 💛
As part of the international DRANICA.24 project, UzhNU explored the centuries-old craft of willow weaving in the renowned Zakarpattia village of Iza, where this unique tradition continues to thrive🇺🇦

🧺 Master artisans Marina and Volodymyr Lenyo shared nearly 40 years of experience, guiding participants through every stage of the process—from preparing willow rods to weaving beautiful handmade baskets. Every movement reflected years of skill, patience, and craftsmanship.

✨ The workshop highlighted not only the beauty of traditional weaving but also its growing relevance today. Eco-friendly handmade products are returning to modern life, while weaving itself is increasingly valued as a mindful, creative practice.

🤝 The visit took place within the DRANICA.24 international project, dedicated to preserving and promoting the intangible cultural heritage of the Carpathian Euroregion through traditional crafts.

🌍 By learning from those whose hands still remember these techniques, we help ensure that this priceless heritage continues to inspire future generations.
