Madison Square Park, Washington Square Park, Union Square Park, and Bryant Park used to be cemeteries. In Washington Square Park alone, more than 20,000 bodies of paupers and yellow fever victims were buried in 1824.

The windowless skyscraper in New York City is located at 3 Thomas Street.

It was built in 1974 by John Warnick to house three digital automated long-distance telephone exchanges.

The facade of the building consists of solid blank walls and an entrance, the only link to the outside world. Entrance to the tower is strictly limited and is only available to those with top-level government security clearance.

Many call the high-rise the “safest building in America” because it is designed to contain radioactive contamination for up to two weeks after a nuclear explosion.

New York City consists of only five boroughs, called boros, and is located in the state of the same name. The boros are called Brooklyn, Bronx, Queens, Manhattan, and Staten Island. 7-8 million people live within the city limits. Half of them are in Brooklyn. But in the so-called Greater New York, located on the territory of three states at once - New Jersey, New York and Connecticut - live more than 20 million people. Together with Sao Paulo, Mexico City and Tokyo, Greater New York is one of the largest megacities in the world.

In the north of New York City, there is a wonderful museum - the only museum in America that displays only works of art from the Middle Ages.
This museum is located on the high bank of the Hudson River, in Tryon Park. Despite the first impression, this museum, a branch of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, is not as old as it seems. The history of the museum began at the end of the nineteenth century. American sculptor George Barnard (1868-1933) (George Grey Barnard) first studied in Chicago, then went to France and attended classes at the Paris Academy of Fine Arts. It was in Paris that the sculptor worked on his most famous composition, The Struggle of the Two Natures in Man, which is now in the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
Interestingly, the sculptor's career was sponsored by Alfred Clarke, who built the famous Dakota Building (where Lennon lived) in New York. When Clark passed away, his heirs donated the sculpture to the Metropolitan Museum of Art in his memory.
