The weather’s starting to lean in, and so is my anticipation.
Low temps turn the lake hard and brittle. Wind gives it a spine. Add snow and it all starts to move with intention.
I’ll be out there this week, watching it build and fall apart again. Where wil I be going? Not sure yet…
This photo was taken 1-15-26 with the new drone. From up there you can see the waves organize, stack, and then fold into the pier with a kind of quiet violence. It’s a perspective most people never get, not because it’s dramatic, but because it’s usually empty out there when the lake decides to speak.
Cold, loud, honest. That’s enough.
