Set in the pretty countryside of East Sussex, 14th-century Bodiam Castle is undoubtedly one of the most romantic of England's many remaining castles. Though its interior is partly in ruins, this moted fortress dominates the surrounding countryside with its imposing towers and sturdy walls, much of which can be explored and climbed, opening up incredible views over the surrounding River Rother countryside.
