… my worlds have collided. Okean Elzy in Boston. Surreal. Absolutely surreal.

Last time I attended their concert it took place in Odesa. They performed at Chornomorets Stadium. It was full. I think there were at least 30,000 people. Compared to last night it’s a huge difference. Nevertheless the vibe was still amazing. But I can definitely see the difference. There were a lot of young people to whom this song is probably the one their parents were listening to when they were kids born in the US. But to me it’s so iconic. It was a breakthrough for our generation in the end of the 90s. Okean Elzy was the first Ukrainian band singing in Ukrainian. Their songs became really popular not only in Ukraine.

This was an absolutely fantastic evening. Thank you so much for this energy and making me feel like home again💙💛.

LONG WEEKEND

… is a chance to decompress, sleep in and reflect on what’s going on with your life.

I gotta say that I took on every challenge I
had in front of me. Yeah, September was busy. As a result, I’m pretty tired now.

God Bless Indigenous Peoples’ Day. It always gives me this extra time to breathe because it’s a day off. But it also helps me understand what kind of country is becoming my home now.

HARRY POTTER EXHIBIT

I’m not a huge fan of Harry Potter. I was just born way before it was first released, and in a very different country.

Though, I watched Harry Potter the first time with my young learners in a movie theater. It was our field trip and I remember how excited they were. It was back in the year of 2002 (if I’m not mistaken) and I was so young and … inexperienced. But definitely passionate to teach those kids.

Anyway, it was such a nice experience. I really enjoyed it. Highly recommend 👍.

Monday, September 16th. My third week of teaching started better than I expected. I thought I’d be exhausted after 5 hours of non-stop training with 55 participants. Though I’m alive and absolutely happy about my new job.

I’ve realized for the 100th time why I enjoy teaching so much. Because students inspire me to get better at what I do. Really appreciate my new position as a Business Communications Instructor ☺️.
