The gallery and sacristy inside are inferior in beauty to the exterior of the facade. The imposing and austere building of Bernardine Church was originally a part of the defensive wall, and the surviving loopholes remind us of it today. Inside, the church is equipped without excessive pathos, and remnants of biblical frescoes can be seen on the walls.

It once housed the city archives, treasury, courtrooms, and the cellars were used to hold prisoners.
