Kittens born in the litter of another shorthair cat were able to lay the foundation of the elite lines represented today and produce offspring that have spread beyond the breeding country.

Breeding sphinxes is associated with an attempt to cross a hairless individual born from an ordinary domestic cat with members of the same lineage. However, the first experiment failed. Due to the small number of livestock and little experience in preserving the new species, it has not been possible to develop stable breed qualities, and the history of sphinxes could end without beginning. However, in 1975 the attempt was repeated. And this time already successfully.

Sphynx cats are the result of a natural mutation reinforced by humans. And although the first mention of bald cats can be traced back to the Aztecs. And in South America in the 30s of the last century a whole population of naked individuals was recorded, the breed we know today was born only in 1966 in Canada.

- Suitable for families with children. According to most breeders, sphinxes are considered good nannies. Animals of this breed are not afraid of loud sounds and actively participate in joint games.

- Suitable for people with allergies to animal fur. The breed is not hypoallergenic. But if the immune response is provoked by wool, and not protein in saliva or odors, it is still worth considering. To get guarantees, you need to pass allergy tests or take a kitten from the kennel for a test period.

Almost the most recognizable breed of cats are sphinxes. The main distinguishing feature of the sphinx is the absence of thick fur. At the same time, the skin of sphinxes is not completely bald, and can be covered with a soft down, like a peach.
