General Butt Naked was a war lord who committed several atrocities during the Liberian Civil War.
The General's real name is Joshua Milton Blahyi and he was employed by Samuel Doe after the latter staged a coup d'état of the government in 1980. Blahyi was employed by Doe's regime to perform black magic rituals to help win the 1985 election.
In 1989 civil war broke out and Blahyi and his men 'the Naked Base Commandos" fought on the government's side. As their name suggests, they often fought completely n**e. Blahyi would later testify at the 2008 Truth and Reconciliation Commission that they also committed numerous atrocities including human sacrifice and cannibalism. Blahyi estimated his own victims numbered at least 20,000 - including children.
In 1996 Blahyi underwent a religious conversion and renounced his life of violence. The Truth and Reconciliation Commission recommended he, along with 37 others be pardoned because they, "spoke truthfully before the Commission and expressed remorse for their prior actions."
Today he works as an evangelical preacher.
