I’ve gathered Yiddish words once written on building facades in Lviv both those that still exist and those that have already disappeared, and translated them.
You’ll also find a map so you can locate and see them for yourself. It was interesting to work on them because some were written with German influence or in Hebrew.
Thank you Lada Moskalets and for your help with finding the right meaning of the inscriptions.

Yiddish was never just a language for these authors — Isaac Bashevis Singer, Rokhl Boymvol, A.Lutsky, Malka Lee.

It was something they carried with them in memory, in everyday life, in the way they saw the world.

In their words, Yiddish feels warm, alive, gentle and ironic, poetic and direct.

Reading these lines, you start to feel that connection too.
Not as something distant, but as something you can return to.

Even one word.
Even one sentence a day.
Because this language was not only written
it was lived, shared, and passed on with care.

You can find all the quotes and so much in . To get one, text me in direct messages or here.
Price for calendar $65, international shipping $15.

Couldn’t wait to share the new post about one of my favourite and most atmospheric places in Lviv — Shtuka Cafe-Gallery 🥰 I decided to place small pieces of text on the photos. How do you find this format, is it convenient to read?

Shtuka Cafe recreates the atmosphere of early 20th-century Lviv. Inscriptions on the walls, in Yiddish and Polish, remind us that these languages were once part of everyday life in the city. On the same street as the cafe, Sholem Aleichem once lived during his visits to Lviv. The city’s atmosphere inspired him to write a couple of works.

Sitting there with a cup of coffee, seeing the Yiddish words on the walls, inspires me to explore Jewish history and culture, dive into Yiddish texts, and create new, thoughtful pieces that carry tradition into modern life with care and respect.
