It was initially called the Magic Cube.

Back when the Rubik's Cube was first introduced in the market in 1974, it was termed as the 'Magic Cube' or 'Bűvös Kocka' in Hungarian. In order to overcome the international patent challenges that had arisen in Hungary, the Ideal Toy Corporation, which had bought the rights to this puzzle, changed the name to 'Rubik's Cube' in 1980.

There are more than 700 different Caribbean islands, islets, reefs, and caves. The islands are divided into different island groups. What are the three major island groups of the Caribbean?

The Lucayan Archipelago – Countries are the Bahamas and the Turks and Caicos islands. The list of all islands is too long to put here.
The Greater Antilles – Greater Antilles islands list: Cuba, the Cayman Islands, the Dominican Republic, Haiti, Jamaica and Puerto Rico

Everest is a massive 8848 meters tall – just below the cruising height of a jumbo jet!
The mighty Mount Everest was first measured in 1856 at 8840m tall. The height was then adjusted to 8848m in 1955, which is still the official height stated by the Nepalese government. However, there is a discrepancy as the Chinese declare the height of Mount Everest as 8844m.

Scientists are currently in the process of remeasuring the world’s tallest mountain, especially as it is thought the height might have changed following the 2015 earthquake. This work should be completed by 2020.



Everest is over 60 million years old.
The mountain was formed when India’s continental plate crashed into Asia. India’s plate pushed under Asia and raised a huge mass of land upwards, creating the world’s highest mountain rage; the spectacular Himalayas.

Poseidon was a brother of Zeus, the sky god and chief deity of ancient Greece, and of Hades, god of the underworld. When the three brothers deposed their father, the kingdom of the sea fell by lot to Poseidon. His weapon and main symbol was the trident, perhaps once a fish spear.

1. Moss was the first plant on earth. Algae adapted to life on earth…evolving into lichen, liverworts and moss.
2. Mosses live all over the world. There are over 10,000 species of moss worldwide.

3. Mosses tend to grow in moist places, but some species are drought tolerant and cold tolerant.

4. Mosses don’t have roots.
5. Mosses are anchored to earth, rock, trees by rhizoids which look like tiny roots. The rhizoids are a thread like structure but don’t absorb water or nutrients.
tilden186. Mosses get their nutrients from rainwater, dew, fog and sunlight. They may get nutrients from the top layer of soil, if they are touching it.
7. Mosses don’t produce pollen, seeds or flowers. They reproduce via spores.

8. Mosses grow in a wider range of light exposures than other plants, from bright to dark.
9. Mosses have been used over the centuries as pillow stuffing, wound dressing and diapers. It is not used as a human food to the best of my knowledge.
10. Mosses collectively provide more carbon offset than all the trees in the world.
