OVERALL CPE PREPARATION TIPS
If you thought going from FCE to CAE was hard you're going to HATE going from CAE to CPE. It's tough. Open a CPE coursebook - there's not a lot of grammar in there - you're supposed to pretty much know everything already.
📖 If your grammar isn't rock solid, go and buy Destination C1 and work through it. (It's also great for vocabulary, but if you don't have 6 months to prepare just do the grammar units.)
📚 What you do get with Objective Proficiency is tons of vocabulary exercises. Dependent prepositions, phrasal verbs, idioms - oh, lordy! Hundreds of high-level new words. You'd better buy some flashcards.
As you'd expect, the reading texts are longer, and the listening texts are harder and faster.
That all leads us to the first, most important tip:
1️⃣ SURROUND YOURSELF WITH ENGLISH.
Create a little English bubble that you can live in at least a few hours a week. Make an English-speaking friend. Load up your phone with podcasts. And most of all, READ ALL THE TIME. Read the news in English, read The New Yorker, read The Economist. Read Reddit and 9Gag.
2️⃣ An important tip 2: ACTIVATE NEW VOCAB
All those words you're learning? USE them. Get words from your passive vocabulary into your active vocabulary. Use it or lose it, baby!
In further posts you'll find some tips for each section. Stay tuned 🔌

MY FURTHER DESTINATION IS CPE
The Cambridge English: Proficiency exam, also known as CPE, is the highest level exam in the Cambridge English exam suite. Getting the Cambridge certificate of proficiency in English proves that a student has mastered English to a near-native level and can study or work in any type of English setting.
💰 How much does it cost to take CPE?
Fees are set by test centres. Expect to pay around €150 euros.
😏 Is it easy to pass CPE?
The CPE is the toughest English language exam of all the Cambridge suite of exams, and if you hold this qualification it proves – according to Cambridge English - that “you have mastered English to an exceptional level".
🕯️How Long Are the Certifications Valid?
Unlike the TOEFL and IELTS exams which are only valid for 2 years, the Cambridge exams (FCE, CAE, CPE) are valid FOR LIFE 🤩🤩
🧮 How is the result calculated?
A candidate's overall score is calculated by adding all of the individual scores together and dividing by four (and then rounding to the nearest whole number).
🥇What score do you need to get a "pass"?
Scores on the CPE Exam range from 180 to 230. A score of 200 or above is considered a “pass” and students with that score will receive the Cambridge English proficiency certificate, which corresponds to a level C2 in English on the CEFR.
👥 Do natives have C2 level?
In everyday speech, this level might be called “bilingual”, as in “I am bilingual in Russian and English.” A well-educated native English speaker is technically at a C2 level. Relatively few English learners reach this level because their professional or academic goals do not require it.
