Volodymyr M.Koretsky International Law Competition on European Law Concerning Human Rights will take place in Kyiv on 10th—11th of December with the assistance of judges of the European Court of Human Rights. Volodymyr M.Koretsky International Law Competition is a traditional event of the All-Ukrainian week of Law. This year it will be organized in V.M.Koretsky Institute of state and law of National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. The task for Volodymyr M.Koretsky International Law Competition usually deals with urgent issues of human rights protection. The registration of teams consists of one round, therefore, the deadline for the registration is the 15th of November. The students mastering Law and International Law are eligible to participate. Volodymyr M.Koretsky International Law Competition on European Law Concerning Human Rights is one of the most prestigious Ukrainian law competitions of international level. The Competition was found by the Coordination Council of Young Lawyers within the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine on October 5th, 2007 and initiated by former Chairman of the Coordination Council – Vyacheslav Bihun. In past years, teams from Kyiv-Mohyla Academy (2008) and Taras Shevchenko Kyiv National University (2010) became the winners of the Competition. The competition is held in the form of European Court of Human Rights moot court. The teams are to present either the government of a contracting state or an individual applying. To judge the competition only the best specialists in the sphere of human rights, international and comparative law are invited. In the years of 2008 and 2010 professor Volodymyr Butkevych, former judge of the European Court of Human Rights, Yuriy Zaycev, who represented the government of Ukraine in ECHR at that point of time, Vyacheslav Bihun, scientific collaborator of V.M.Koretsky Institute of law and the state within National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, were among the Competition’s judges.
