Dive into QA engineering. What is it? And for whom?

The practical course was developed by the trainers of the company Kit.center, together with the QA specialists of IT company ABOUT THE CODE INC. - for all who have already completed any software testing courses, in order to acquire and consolidate practical skills in software testing.

How to join in:
1.to have the certificate of completion of QA courses
2.to be able to devote at least 15 hours of training per week
3.to be in a good mood :)

What feedback is and isn’t? Feedback is useful information about the effects of an action in light of a goal. If I tell a joke, the goal is laughter; the “effect” is whether or not people laugh and to what extent. The specific kind and amount of laughter is the feedback. Advice might follow from a veteran comic to a joke that fell flat: “You need to work on your timing.” But unless I have clear feedback related to timing the advice is not very helpful. Kit's students are different, but good-focused on good it-goals. There are future employment, level up own skills and growth.

A project is a unique, transient endeavour, undertaken to achieve planned objectives, which could be defined in terms of outputs, outcomes or benefits. A project is usually deemed to be a success if it achieves the objectives according to their acceptance criteria, within an agreed timescale and budget.

A key factor that distinguishes project management from just 'management' is that it has this final deliverable and a finite timespan, unlike management which is an ongoing process. Because of this a project professional needs a wide range of skills; often technical skills, and certainly people management skills and good business awareness.

Today we can’t imagine our life without information technology. Access to all this data wouldn’t be possible the actual network connection. Almost all the modern devices nowadays have a way to connect to the the network. Your Mac and Parallels Desktop virtual machine are no exception!

There are several network modes in Parallels Desktop which we covered is one of the past blogs: Bridged, Shared and Host Only network. Let’s summarize the purpose of each in brief:

With Shared mode, we use the Mac connection to connect to the external network. It’s the easiest to use because your VM can use any type of network connection available on the Mac to connect to Internet (Ethernet, wifi). Bridged mode is used when you want your VM to establish direct connection with your Mac network card. In Bridged mode your VM will look like a standalone PC on the network. And last but not least is Host only mode. Host-Only network is a closed network that is accessible only to Mac OS X and Windows. Select this option to allow the VM to connect to the host computer and the VMs residing on it and to make it invisible outside of the host computer.

But what if something went wrong? What if the default virtual machine setup does not let you surf the internet from Parallels Desktop side? Don’t panic. We’ve got some easy troubleshooting steps. By the way – many of the steps are applicable to Windows PCs (not only virtual machines).

Testing is very interesting because it gives you an opportunity to try many things and not being stuck with one technology until retirement like software development would do to you. Backend developer stays with Java forever. Isn’t that boring? I like to compare testers to nurses and devs to doctors. One cannot exist without other in a well functioning workplace and both must work closely to avoid patient dying on the table. There are also cases when nurse, working many years, has the same or even greater knowledge than doctor although she will always live in his shadow. That’s test engineer’s faith. You must know that this is a very humble profession — tester is not always appreciated when deserved and in many situations blamed for any f**k ups there can be. That’s because tester is the last person that touches product before the release (except for people responsible for deploying it but that’s a different kind of touching). As soon as you comprehend that you should cover your back you will become a good tester. Covering back is not something bad even though it sounds shady. It’s something positive, teaching you to be responsible for any issues slipping by which in the end can get you a spider sense helping to avoid that. Of course testers are not,probably, terminators — mistakes happen and will be happening. We need to be sure everything that could be detected, was indeed found and stakeholders know about it. They should also know what we did, to assure quality of the software. I mean the process that needs to be perfected every iteration and all testers need to understand it. For me, there are 2 layers of software testing job: testing and organizing the testing (managing is a whole different story, somewhere above those 2). Organizing probably is not something a junior QA occupies his head with but it’s a best way to stop being junior and get to a regular level although I will not be talking about it in this post.
