“Beauty is not who you are on the outside, it is the wisdom and time you gave away to save another struggling soul like you.”

1. Avoid rubbing your hair with a towel
Your hair is at its weakest when it’s wet, so it’s more prone to breakage. Gently squeeze excess water out using a smooth fabric, like an old t-shirt, instead of rubbing your hair with a towel. This will help prevent split ends and damage.
2. Wash your hair regularly
While some say that frequent washing is not good for your hair, it’s a must if you live in a hot and humid country like the Philippines. After all, you sweat a lot and are often exposed to pollution! Plus, thanks to the weather, your hair also tends to get oily that dirt easily sticks to it. When sweat, oil, and dirt accumulate on your scalp, it can result in dandruff. Beautiful hair doesn’t exactly have flakes falling down from it, so wash, wash, wash!
3. Massage your scalp when you shampoo
Massaging your scalp will help your locks absorb the shampoo’s nutrients better. It also helps strengthen your hair’s roots.
4. Rinse your hair with cold water
Rinsing your hair with cold water will seal in the nutrients from the shampoo. This will make your mane soft, smooth, and healthy.
5. Go easy on hairstyling products
You don’t always have to use hairstyling products for your hair to look good. Sometimes, all it takes is proper hair care and management. When you have clean hair that’s fragrant and neatly combed, you’re good to go! However, if you really have to use hairspray, gel, wax, or mousse, you might want to consider limiting your usage to once every two days. Doing so will give your hair days off and allow your strands to breathe and relax.
6. Avoid using heat-styling tools too often
As much as curling iron, blow dryer, and flat iron help us get gorgeous hair, they also damage it. Frequent exposure to high temperature makes hair dry and brittle so it looks dull, so if you’re just going to the supermarket, maybe you can skip the flat iron.
7. Use the right type of products for your hair type

Just because one shampoo works on your best friend’s hair doesn’t mean it will work on yours, too. Focus on what your hair needs and make sure your shampoo and conditioner are able to give this. Is your hair flat and limp? Choose a shampoo and conditioner that can help boost volume. Did you just get a dye job? Use a conditioner that’s made for colored hair. Got curly locks? Invest in hair products that help moisturize your hair, tame frizz, and make it soft and manageable.
8. Brush your hair the right way

Is there a right way to brush your hair? The answer is yes. If you’ve been brushing from roots to tips, chances are, you might have been contributing to hair breakage and damage. It’s time to change this habit. Start by holding your hair mid-length and brushing your tips first to remove tangles. Make sure that when you brush, your roots don’t get pulled to avoid damage. Then, work your way up, removing tangles along the way, until your brush can run smoothly from your roots to your tips.
With these simple tips, you can get beautiful hair right at your own home. Cultivating a healthy hair care routine is key. After all, beautiful hair starts from having healthy locks.
