✨ A few days ago, we completed the Summer International Conducting Academy [SICA] – time to sum up the results!

This year, the Academy brought together over 40 participants from Ukraine, Austria and the USA. For five days we learned from Maestro Theodore Kuchar, worked with orchestra and ensemble and left, full of energy and inspiration for the musical path ahead.

Many thanks to Maestro Theodore Kuchar for his generous advice, inspiration and invaluable experience he shared with all of us.

We are deeply grateful to Львівська національна філармонія and Lviv National Philharmonic Orchestra for their partnership — for supporting every idea and helping us make them real!

✨ Кілька днів тому завершилася Summer International Conducting Academy [SICA] — час підвести підсумки!

Цього року Академія об’єднала понад 40 учасників із трьох країн — України, Австрії та США. Протягом п’яти днів ми вчилися у маестро Теодора Кухара, працювали з оркестром та ансамблем та отримали потужний заряд енергії та натхнення для подальшого шляху.

Особлива подяка Маестро Theodore Kuchar за щедрі поради, натхнення та безцінний досвід, який учасники здобули впродовж Академії.

Дякуємо Львівська національна філармонія та Lviv National Philharmonic Orchestra за партнерство в цьому проєкті — за підтримку у всіх ідеях та за можливість їх реалізувати!

🙌 The last participant of the Summer International Conducting Academy is Anton Bulanenko!

Anton Bulanenko is a conductor, music manager and current master’s student at the National Music Academy of Ukraine. He has taken part in masterclasses led by Theodore Kuchar (Lviv, 2023) and Віктор Плоскіна (Dnipro, 2023, 2025).

From 2022 to 2024, Anton was the co-founder, conductor and manager of “Char” Chamber Orchestra, a group focused on historically informed performance. He currently works as a music manager for the “Ame Trio” project, which promotes the music of Japanese composer Joe Hisaishi and also curates a number of chamber music initiatives in Kyiv.

In opera, Anton served as both assistant conductor and conductor for the production of Yuliy Meitus’s “Stolen Happiness”, directed by Alla Kulbaba. He also led a staging of “As in the Distant Past” by Valentyna Martyniuk, performed at the opera studio of the National Music Academy in collaboration with stage director Kateryna Murenets.

He is a laureate of the 2024 First National Competition for Choral and Opera-Symphonic Conductors (Lviv), where he received second prize. Anton has worked with the Dnipro Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra, Національний ансамбль солістів «Київська камерата», Lviv National Philharmonic Orchestra and more.

Anton is currently the Artistic Director of the Student Symphony Orchestra at the L. Revutsky Chernihiv Music College. He also teaches conducting, orchestration, and methods of working with a creative ensemble at the college.

🙌 Останній учасник Summer International Conducting Academy [SICA] – Антон Буланенко!

Anton Bulanenko — диригент, музичний менеджер та студент магістратури Національної музичної академії України. Був активним учасником майстеркласів Theodore Kuchar (Львів, 2023) та Віктор Плоскіна (Дніпро, 2025, 2023).

Антон був керівником камерного оркестру “Char”, з яким співпрацював як диригент та менеджер в сфері історико-поінформованого виконавства з 2022 по 2024 роки. Як музичний менеджер Антон співпрацює з музичним проєктом “Ame trio”, який популяризує музику японського композитора Джо Хісаїші. Також Антон є організатором та куратором низки камерних музичних проєктів Києва.

Антон Буланенко працював над постановкою опери Юлія Мейтуса «Украдене щастя» — як асистент диригентки-постановниці Алли Кульбаби та як диригент. Також він є диригентом-постановником опери «Як в далеку давнину» Валентини Мартинюк на сцені оперної студії НМАУ у співпраці з режисеркою Катериною Муренець.

Антон — учасник диригентських конкурсів, лауреат II премії на I Всекраїнському конкурсі хорових та оперно-симфонічних диригентів (Львів, 2024). Диригент співпрацював з Академічним симфонічним оркестром Дніпровської філармонії, Національний ансамбль солістів «Київська камерата», Lviv National Philharmonic Orchestra та іншими колективами.

Зараз Антон є художнім керівником студентського симфонічного оркестру Чернігівського музичного коледжу ім. Л. Ревуцького. Також Антон викладає у коледжі диригування, інструментування та методику роботи з творчим колективом.

😎 Another participant of this year’s Summer International Conducting Academy [SICA]!

Meet Nataliia Kirychuk — a symphonic conductor and project manager passionate about developing contemporary music in Ukraine. She earned her bachelor’s degree at the National Music Academy of Ukraine, studying under Viktor Ploskina. Nataliia has taken part in masterclasses with Etienne Haan (Kyiv), Віктор Плоскіна (Dnipro) and Theodore Kuchar (Lviv).

Her conducting experience includes collaborations with the Lviv and Dnipro Philharmonics, the National Presidential Orchestra of Ukraine and other collectives. Nataliia has conducted projects such as «Teatro di Figaro», «Conductors. In Ukrainian» and the ЦММ - Центр музики молодих.

In her management work, she brings creative ideas to life with the Student Scientific And Creative Society «Octopus» and the Ensemble 24 — contemporary music collective, while also coordinating projects at the CMM Youth Music Centre. Her portfolio includes organising Theodore Kuchar’s masterclasses (2023–2025), Etienne Haan’s «Points of Intersection» workshop on performing contemporary symphonic music and a series of piano masterclasses as part of the Re-Construction project at the Національна філармонія України.

Nataliia Kirychuk — симфонічна диригентка й проєктна менеджерка, зацікавлена в розвитку сучасної музики в Україні. Закінчила бакалаврат Національної музичної академії України в класі Віктора Плоскіни. Брала участь у майстеркласах Etienne Haan (Київ), Віктор Плоскіна (Дніпро) та Theodore Kuchar (Львів).

Серед її досвіду — співпраця з оркестрами Львівської та Дніпровської філармоній, Національним президентським оркестром та іншими колективами. Наталія була диригенткою у проєктах «Teatro di Figaro», «Диригенти. Українською», Практикумі для виконавців від ЦММ - Центр музики молодих.

У сфері менеджменту активно реалізовує творчі ініціативи разом з студентським науково-творчим товариством «Octopus» та ансамблем Ensemble 24, координує проєкти ЦММ. Серед її напрацювань — майстеркласи Теодора Кухара (2023-2025), воркшоп Етьєна Гаана «Точки перетину» з виконання сучасної академічної симфонічної музики та серія майстеркласів для піаністів у межах проєкту «Ре-Конструкція» у Національна філармонія України.

🪄 Continuing our introductions of the vibrant participants of the Summer International Conducting Academy [SICA]!

Kohki Totsuka is a Japanese–Austrian conductor and scholar. He is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Orchestral Conducting at the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee (USA), where he also works as an Assistant Conductor of the university’s Symphony Orchestra. He has improved his skills in masterclasses with Sebastian Lang-Lessing, Karel Mark Chichon, Yuji Yuasa, Guillermo García Calvo, Erwin Ortner, and Zoltán Pad. In March 2025, Kohki was invited to join Das Kritische Orchester in Berlin as part of the Forum Dirigieren program, and in April 2025, he took part in the prestigious Città di Brescia – Giancarlo Facchinetti Conducting Competition.

His collaborations include work with such renowned ensembles as the Gran Canaria Philharmonic Orchestra, the Lithuanian State Symphony Orchestra and the North Czech Philharmonic Teplice. Beyond orchestral work, he is active as a vocal coach and accompanist, having participated in the world premiere of Eli Drus’s song cycle “Man Can Only Spoil”. He also works as an accompanist for the university’s violin studio and as rehearsal pianist for the UW–Milwaukee opera production of “Le nozze di Figaro”.

In addition to his musical career, Kohki holds Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Philosophy as well as a Certificate in Ethics from the University of Vienna. From 2019 to 2023, he worked as a research assistant, taught courses, published articles on intercultural philosophy and organised interdisciplinary symposia with lecture–concerts. He is currently developing a project titled “Tradition, Rationality, and the Modern State: Max Weber and the Intercultural Philosophy of Music”.

🪄 Продовжуємо наше знайомство з активними учасниками Summer International Conducting Academy [SICA]!

Кокі Тоцука — японсько-австрійський диригент і науковець. Наразі здобуває ступінь магістра в галузі оркестрового диригування в Університеті Вісконсін-Мілуокі (США) та є асистентом диригента університетського симфонічного оркестру. Вдосконалював свої навички на майстеркласах у Себастіана Ланг-Лессінга, Карела Марка Чічона, Юджі Юаси, Гільєрмо Гарсії Кальво, Ервіна Ортнера та Золтана Пада. У березні 2025 року Кокі був запрошений до Das Kritische Orchester у Берліні в рамках програми Forum Dirigieren, а в квітні 2025-го – взяв участь у престижному конкурсі диригентів Città di Brescia – Giancarlo Facchinetti.

Серед інших досягнень Кокі – співпраця із низкою відомих колективів, серед яких Філармонічний оркестр Гран-Канарії, Литовський державний симфонічний оркестр та Північно Чеський філармонічний оркестр в Тепліцях. Окрім роботи з оркестрами, він активно працює як вокальний коуч і акомпаніатор, брав участь у світовій прем’єрі циклу пісень Елі Дрюса «Людина може тільки зіпсувати». Також є акомпаніатором скрипкової студії та репетиційним піаністом оперної постановки «Весілля Фігаро» в Університеті Вісконсін-Мілуокі.

Окрім музики, Кокі має ступені бакалавра і магістра філософії та сертифікат з етики Віденського університету. З 2019 по 2023 рік працював науковим асистентом, викладав курси, публікував статті з міжкультурної філософії та організовував міждисциплінарні симпозіуми з лекційними концертами. Зараз Кокі працює над проєктом «Традиція, раціональність і сучасна держава: Макс Вебер і міжкультурна філософія музики».

🌟 Meet the next participant of the Summer International Conducting Academy [SICA] – Oksana Krotyk!

Ukrainian conductor Oksana Krotyk recently earned her master’s degree in orchestral conducting from the National Music Academy of Ukraine, where she studied under Professor Dilyaver Osman. Before that, she completed a bachelor’s degree in saxophone performance in 2023. Oksana has taken part in masterclasses with Victoria Zhadko, Vitaliy Alekseenok, Viktor Ploskina Віктор Плоскіна , Theodore Kuchar and Dmytro Morozov.

She has a particular passion for opera and regularly conducted performances at the academy’s opera studio with productions including “La Traviata”, “Zaporozhets za Dunayem” (“Zaporozhets Beyond the Danube”) and others.

In 2025, she was selected by the orchestra during Theodore Kuchar’s conducting masterclass to take part in “Conductors. In Ukrainian” — a Lviv National Philharmonic Львівська національна філармонія initiative that gives young conductors the chance to work with its Lviv National Philharmonic Orchestra. That same spring, she presented a Hungarian-German concert program as part of the project.

Since 2024, Oksana has served as guest conductor of the Gospel Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine (GSO) and guest conductor for the staged musical performance Where to Find Friends at the National Plharmonic of Ukraine Національна філармонія України.

🌟 Наступна учасниця Summer International Conducting Academy [SICA] – Оксана Кротик!

Oksana Krotyk — диригентка, магістерка Національної музичної академії України. Отримала ступінь бакалавра у 2023 році як саксофоністка, а в 2025 закінчила магістратуру в класі диригента та професора Ділявера Османа. Оксана є учасницею майстеркласів Вікторії Жадько, Віталія Алексєйонка, Віктор Плоскіна, Theodore Kuchar та Dmytro Morozov.

Диригентка активно досліджує оперний жанр: протягом навчання в академії вона неодноразово диригувала виставами оперної студії. В її репертуарі є “Травіата”, “Запорожець за Дунаєм” та інші репертуарні вистави.

Активна учасниця другого майстеркласу Теодора Кухара, Оксана була обрана оркестром для участі у проєкті “Диригенти. Українською” — ініціативі Львівська національна філармонія яка дає можливість молодим диригентам виступити з Lviv National Philharmonic Orchestra. Вже у квітні 2025 диригентка представила публіці угорсько-німецьку програму.

З 2024 року Оксана є запрошеною диригенткою Gospel Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine (GSO) та запрошеною диригенткою-постановницею музичного перфомансу “Де шукати друзів” у Національна філармонія України.
