The Austrian poet Rainer Maria Rilke was dressed in girls' dresses until the age of five. He was born in a family where a daughter died at the age of two weeks. Therefore, two of his six names, Rene and Maria, were feminine. The mother also dressed Rilke in girls' dresses and played with him like a girl.
