ARRI Reaffirms Commitment to Lighting and Camera Systems – Full Roadmap for 2026, Munich Consolidation Underway

Following recent restructuring that saw 150 job cuts and facility closures, ARRI has issued a comprehensive statement reaffirming its commitment to both lighting and camera businesses.

Christopher Nolan made "The Odyssey" the first movie entirely shot with Imax cameras by inventing a new casing called the "blimp." https://wp.me/pc8uak-1lGzTR

“The blimp system is a game-changer. You can be shooting a foot from [an actor’s] face while they’re whispering and get usable sound. What that opens up are intimate moments of performance on the world’s most beautiful format," Nolan told Empire, noting how Imax cameras could previously only shoot action scenes because they were too loud to record dialogue.

"The Odyssey" cinematographer Hoyte van Hoytema "presented Chris with a very big close-up of a child on the IMAX screen, reciting David Bowie’s ‘Sound And Vision’ from a piece of paper" to prove Imax cameras were ready to shoot dialogue scenes. Nolan said the results were "electrifying," adding: "We never would have been able to get those shots before."
