Freedom Square
Monument to King Pedro IV on Freedom Square Diego Delso
The main square of the city, surrounded by mansions and administrative buildings, decorated in a laconic Art Nouveau style, makes a very vivid contrast to the colorful and chaotic diversity of Ribeira. All the buildings surrounding the square were built in the same architectural style, according to the same plan. The square is crowned by a 19th century monument erected in honor of King Pedro IV.
