Experts say U.S. vaccination efforts aren't likely to be significantly affected after the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) halted use of Johnson & Johnson's vaccine Tuesday due to concerns of a side effect.

The FDA and CDC said in a joint statement that out of more than 6.8 million doses administered of the J&J vaccine, there were six reports, including one fatality, of a rare blood clot in the brain — known as cerebral venous sinus thrombosis.

"We are recommending a pause in the use of this vaccine out of an abundance of caution," the two health agencies added.

The March Madness high, Iowa University basketball star Luka Garza made history this week by becoming the first college athlete to offer a non fungible token, or NFT, for auction on Friday .

With two days of bidding left to go for Garza's NFT, which also comes with a signed pair of game-worn shoes, a private meditation session with the John Wooden Award winner himself, and a lifetime pass to basketball camps hosted by Garza, the highest offer passed $10,000 on Wednesday.

"The cool thing about this one was it's more than just an image [card] it's a personal connection with whoever the person who wins the auction," Garza said about the auction that closes Friday. "When we get to that point, I'm excited to meet the person who won the auction and get to know them a little better."

SpaceX president Gwynne Shotwell does not think the company will add “tiered pricing” for its direct-to-consumer Starlink satellite internet service, which is currently offered at $100 a month in limited early access.

“I don’t think we’re going to do tiered pricing to consumers. We’re going to try to keep it as simple as possible and transparent as possible, so right now there are no plans to tier for consumers,” Shotwell said, speaking at the Satellite 2021 on a virtual panel on Tuesday.

Starlink is the company’s capital-intensive project to build an interconnected internet network with thousands of satellites, known in the space industry as a constellation, designed to deliver high-speed internet to company.

Dynavax Technologies Corp. DVAX, +1.13% said Tuesday that French vaccine maker Valneva plans to commence a Phase 3 trial of its inactivated COVID-19 vaccine candidate, VLA2001, with Dynavax's CpG (TM) adjuvant by the end of April after achieving positive results in a Phase 1/2 trial. The trial involved 153 healthy adults aged 18 to 55 years old and found the combination was safe and highly immunogenic. The group giving the highest dose produced antibodies and T cells and only showed mild to moderate adverse events.Dynavax Chief Executive Ryan Spencer said in a statement. Dynavax shares were up 2.6% premarket and have gained 121% in the year to date, while the S&P 500 SPX, +1.44% has gained 8.6%.

The historical trajectory of venture capital has been to move to earlier and earlier finding rounds in order to capture the greatest potential multiple on exit. In the U.S., we’ve seen an explosion of pre-Series A funds, and similarly in Europe. Now, newly formed Aldea Ventures intends to do just that.

Today’s it’s announcing a €60 million first close of its Pan-European fund with the aim of reaching its target €100 million first fund. The idea is ambitious: to invest in 700 startups across Europe, but with an unusual, “hybrid” strategy.

The model is more common in Silicon Valley than in Europe, although it does exist there. But Aldea Ventures hopes to capitalize on this trend. Aldea is also effectively stepping into the gap where corporate VCs in the U.S. would normally fill, but in Europe is generally a gaping hole.

The combined output of the eight core sector industries fell at the fastest pace in six months, contracting 4.6% in February.

"The combined Index of eight core industries stood at 127.8 in February 2021, which declined by 4.6 per cent as compared to the index of February 2020," ministry of commerce and industry said in an release.

Cumulatively, eight core industries output fell by 8.3 per cent during April to February 2020-21.
