Сподіваюсь ці фрази вам ніколи не знадобляться, але це життя і треба бути тактовним і підбирати слова навіть в таких ситуаціях чи може особливо в таких ситуаціях.

Things I did for the first time in my life in 2024 ☺️
2024 also taught me:
❤️to separate things that are in my power/influence and things that are not. To focus on what I can change/affect and let go of things I cannot.
❤️ the importance of "putting the mask on myself first, then on my kids". It was a tough lesson. But I guess I have learned that one.
❤️ to listen to myself more: what I feel, what I want, develop my intuition. Ok.. still in progress there. But I'm on it.
❤️ the importance of therapy and me time.
❤️ to look around and pay more attention to my achievements and value what I have already got.
And what did you do for the first time or learn in 2024?

Every time someone asks you to do something or invite you somewhere and you just want to say f*ck off, better use some of the following phrases 👆👆👆
It will save not only your time and energy but also your relationship with the speaker.
So follow that and text "+" in the comments if that was useful.

In 2005 I spent 1 year in Scotland, in a small town called Montrose in one of the best hotels in the town. There I learned many things.
I learned to trust people. When a lady offered to stay with her and to show me around Glasgow I did not hesitate. As a result I visited the biggest city of Glasgow and the oldest city of Edinburg.
I learned to listen to how people speak and to find patterns in conversations so I could communicate with locals the "same" language. Took me some time but I enjoyed the process and it was definitely worth it.
I learned to be open to new opportunities
Thus I visited many castles, Lochs and big cities.
I learned to let go and move on.
There I learned one of the biggest lessons in my life. And I am thankful for the experience.
I learned to value friendship and people around me.
I learned to appreciate the beauty of nature, especially the big water. It is still my meditation.
I learned by their example to be proud of who I am and of my origin. Looking at them and how proud they were of their origin and everything they have created, I started questioning my identity and building it. As a result I became proud of my own origin and became a patriot of my own country. Because I saw a great example.
It was truly a year that changed my life because I went there a little girl and came back - an adult. A woman who learned many lessons and understood a lot.
Thank you, Scotland, for all the experience.
Still value, still cherish it.

Culture fluency.
If you assume that everybody else communicates the way you do, you need to get ready for miscommunication, misunderstanding, and plenty of problems in relationships and work.
Learning vocabulary and grammar does not mean you know the language. It just means you know vocabulary and grammar. Speaking like a native speaker means knowing HOW they speak. Is the nation very straightforward (like Germans) or is the nation very indirect and extra polite (like Japan), maybe the nation is very sensitive and emotional (like Italians). It is down to culture and learning about it is called Culture fluency.
Culture fluency involves being aware of what's considered appropriate etiquette in a certain nation —from body language to physical contact to eye contact. And finally, to understand how they speak and what they really mean when they speak. Quite often people who learn English until a certain level don’t feel the language. Till then they use English words but continue speaking their first language. So when you develop your culture fluency, you not only start “reading” people from other countries, but you also become more aware of how to effectively work with other people. You will understand what they expect you to say and you will know what to expect to hear from them.
When you are culturally fluent, you can communicate effectively, build relationships, work with people from different nations, find common ground with foreigners, enhance empathy, increase cultural competence, improve conflict resolution, and, finally, promote diversity and inclusion.
Effective communication is key!

Polite "No" is a skill.
Native speakers do that naturally. They can reject your offer without offending you a bit, you will even feel flattered.
English learners need to learn how to do that:
- say no and save the other person's face
- say no and maintain a good relationship
- say no and not feel guilty about it
- say no and feel good about yourself
Have a look at the list of useful phrases for different situations and save them for later.

Some information about me as a teacher

Singular "they".
We used to say "she or he" or "he or she" in situations in spoken language when you either didn't know or didn't want to specify the gender of the person. In written language, the recommended form was "s/he".
👌Nowadays, however, using "they" and "themself" is recommended when referring to one non-specific person.
☝Singular "they" and "themself" is also used when referring to nonbinary and gender-nonconforming people. These people don't associate themselves with neither male, nor female gender.
Using the singular "they" has a few benefits:
✅ it saves time while speaking
✅ makes you tolerant and polite towards each gender
✅ makes you tolerant and polite toward a nonbinary person.
Polite English will get your foot in any door!
