💎 Education is a ticket to the successful future!

The English-taught Double Degree Master Program in Public Sector Finance (Кафедра Фінансів КНУ імені Тараса Шевченка) provides students with scholarships during their semester studies at Handelshøgskolen - HHN, Nord universitet and covers travel and accommodation expenses by the grant “Norwegian-Ukrainian Cooperation in Public Sector Economy Education: Accounting, Budgeting and Finance (NUPSEE)”.

Admission to the program requires from an applicant to document proficiency in English (international certificate, minimum B2).

📌 We asked our students and graduates: “What advice would you give to your younger selves – freshmen of this program?". Their recommendations are as such:

▶️ actively participate in all student activities, especially those which are organized for international students (check ISU Bodø);
▶️ meet various interesting people and communicate with the students not only on the topics of study (remember about various sport and entertainment activities);
▶️ travel to picturesque places of Norway – it is desirable to prepare routes in advance in Ukraine (Visit Norway, Visit Bodø, Lofoten)

✨ Public Sector Finance provides robust educational and scientific preparation of students while they experience intercultural communication. Because studies is not only about completing tasks and passing exams, but it is also a lot of new acquaintances and friends!

❗️Successful graduates of the double degree Master program in Public Sector Finance are one of the goals of the cooperation between Taras Shevchenko KNU and Nord University. And we are proud to be able to tell such stories about each of our graduates, which will definitely inspire new achievements.

🏆Bohdan Dorosh, who graduated in 2019, won the competition held by Nordland County Council for the best Master thesis in the category “Public Sector”.

For his work “The Role of Control in Shaping Dialogue in Participatory Budgeting: Case Study of the City of Kyiv” (scientific supervisors: PhD, Assoc. Prof. N.Miedviedkova & PhD, Postdoc. E.Aleksandrov)*, Bohdan received a monetary reward of 10,000 Norwegian krones (almost 1,000 euros).

B.Dorosh is currently working as an analyst for the pan-European venture fund GR Capital, and he is aiming for further career growth in this field. Therefore, we wish him new accomplishments!

*Master theses are written in collaboration with two scientific supervisors: one from the Ukrainian side and one from the Norwegian side.

Public Sector Finance is a double degree Master program taught in English, which has been successfully implemented since 2017 and entitles its graduates to receive two diplomas simultaneously – from KNU and Nord University (Bodø, Norway).

🔸 The educational process takes place at the Faculty of Economics of KNU (during the 1st and 3rd semesters) and Business School of Nord University (2nd semester).

🎯 During students’ stay in Norway, the semester fee, travel and accommodation expenses are covered by the grant “Norwegian-Ukrainian Cooperation in Public Sector Economy Education: Accounting, Budgeting and Finance (NUPSEE)”. Students also receive a decent scholarship, and this makes the program extremely attractive from an economic point of view.

🔹 Each of three semesters includes 4 courses, where professors from Ukraine, Norway, Sweden, Italy, Denmark, Estonia, and Singapore are involved into lecturing.

📕 The entire 4th semester is devoted to writing a Master thesis, which is publicly defended before an international examination board.

🏆 Also, among the students of this program, Nordland County Council holds a competition for the best Master thesis in the category “Public Sector”, where the monetary award is equal to 10,000 Norwegian krones (almost 1,000 euros), but about this you can read in our next publications.
