On the 19th of February, within the framework of the educational and cultural project "New Spaces of Art", an event dedicated to A. Kuindzhi (to the 180th anniversary of his birth) "Music of Light" was held, and was visited by the interested people from different cities of Ukraine and Greece.
The lecturers were the leading art critics and researchers of the outstanding artist's creativity. Oleksandr Shylo (Kharkiv), Doctor of Art Criticism, Professor of the Department of Fine and Decorative Arts at Kharkiv National University of Municipal Economy named after O.M.Beketov, a member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine addressed the main issues of Kuindzhi's creative work, while emphasizing its roots and prospects, outlined ties of the artist with French, Italian, Russian, Ukrainian art schools. Olga Denysenko (Kharkiv), an art critic, the head of the department of Ukrainian and Russian art of the XVI - early XX centuries of the Kharkiv Art Museum, a member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine in the report "I. Yu. Repin and A.I. Kuindzhi: to the history of creative relations" gave bright characteristics of creative communication and in general opened up some pages of the artist's life and creativity. Lyudmila Grinchenko-Evstasyadu (Athens) - a philosopher, writer, publicist, musician, Head of the "Talents of Greece" Foundation (Athens) gave a short lecture called "Artistic thinking of A. Kuindzhi in the space of ancient Greek ideas and meanings", outlining philosophical principles of later period of creativity and giving parallels with the modern Greek art school.
The musical component of the event also became important. The main tone was set by the performance of K. Debussy's "Moonlight", which was performed by the professor of KhNUA named after I.P. Kotlyarevsky Sergiy Yushkevych (recorded in 1995, Paris). The song "As en tinchlich" in the Rumei dialect (the dialect of the Mariupol Greek suburbs) performed by Tatiana Selemeneva, a member of the Kharkiv city society of the Greeks "Helios", was also connected with Kuindzhi's creative work. The Ukrainian colour of creativity was emphasized by the performance of the bandura-accordion duet (the students and graduates of KhNUA named after I.P. Kotlyarevsky Ganna Konoval and Sergiy Illarionov), the French and mythological dimensions - by the performance of "Syrinx" by C. Debussy by the student of KhNUA named after I.P. Kotlyarevsky Margaryta Baidak (flute).
Lectures by leading art critics and music opened the multicultural nature of A. Kuindzhi's creative work and, as the moderator of the event, Yuliya Nikolayevska, Doctor of Art Criticism, Professor of KhNUA named after I.P. Kotlayrevsky, emphasized, combined several space and time, ethnic, cultural and artistic dimensions which is the important purpose of such events and is the mission of the project "New Spaces of Art".
