Within the city there are three stations: Kutná Hora main, and on the branch, Kutná Hora-Sedlec and Kutná Hora Mesto. The last station is located closest to the historic part of the city.

The status of the city was granted in the first half of the XIII century. The center of the medieval silver mining industry (in the 13th century, the city's mines accounted for a third of European silver production), making it the second richest city in the Czech kingdom.

The first settlement on this site was a Cistercian monastery founded in 1132. For a long time, it was the monastery lands that owned silver mining. The situation changed during the reign of Wenceslaus II who secularized the mines.
