PassGAN AI can crack 51% of in a minute😬password is our first line of defense against cyber threats. Unfortunately, passwords are becoming easier to crack, thanks to the advances in artificial intelligence (AI) technology.
AI tools have become incredibly advanced and can now crack common passwords used across the web in just a matter of seconds. Home Security Heroes recently conducted a study using the PassGAN tool, which was able to figure out four-to seven-character passwords almost instantly. Even with variations of uppercase and lowercase letters or with numbers included, the shorter, simpler passwords were still easy for the tool to crack. Passwords with up to six characters were cracked instantly until symbols were included, and those with up to seven characters took at least 22 seconds to crack.
The study concluded that the longest and most complex passwords with a combination of uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, and symbols were much harder for AI to crack - taking an estimated 14 billion years! To ensure better security across accounts, it is advised that users do not keep the same password for multiple accounts and change them often. it's important to create strong passwords that are not easily guessable; avoid using any personal information such as birth dates; and never share your password with anyone else.
