DCT Mvumi Secondary School

DCT Mvumi Secondary School Mvumi Secondary School is a mixed boarding school in central Tanzania. Over 500 students attends! Mvumi Secondary School is 36 Km from Dodoma.

It was started in 1994 because many Tanzanian children could not go to secondary school due to the governments fees. The school is in the middle of Mvumi which is a large busy village that has grown up around the village's Mission Hospital. Both school and hospital were set up by the Anglican Diocese of Central Tanganyika (DCT). It is a Christian school but is open to all, regardless of faith. The

current school role is 530 boys and girls, where we try to keep the numbers of boys and girls equal. Facilities
Due to links with donors abroad, we have been able to build impressive buildings, drill a reliable bore hole, install electricity and further improve other facilities. We have also gained a ratio of 1 text book to each student. Additionally we currently have 64 qualified full-time staff. The students play sports several days a week on pitches nearby. These sports include football, basketball, netball, volleyball, jogging and athletics. Provisions for visually impaired students
The school has a Purpose built resource centre for the students who are blind or with severely impaired eye sight. Sponsorship and scholarship
Sponsored students and students receiving scholarships are selected from local primary schools and are from the poorest backgrounds. This scheme also extends to the visually impaired students.
