1. Habari
Meaning: Hello / How are you?
Common Replies:

Nzuri (I’m good) or

Salama (Peaceful / Fine) also
Njema (Good)

A: Habari?
B: Nzuri, asante. Na wewe? (Good, thank you. And you?)

2. Shikamoo
Meaning: A respectful greeting to elders (like “I respect you”).
Reply:Marahaba (I accept your respect)

✅ Example:
A: Shikamoo, Mwalimu!
B: Marahaba!

3. Mambo
Meaning: What’s up? / How are things? (informal, used among friends)
Replies:Poa! (Cool!) Or
Freshi! (Fresh!)

✅ Example:

4. Hujambo / Hamjambo
Meaning: How are you? (singular/plural)
Replies:Sijambo (I’m fine)also
Hatujambo (We’re fine)

5. Salama
Meaning: Peaceful / All good?
Replies:..Salama kabisa! (Completely peaceful / I’m fine) Or
Ndiyo, salama tu. (Yes, all good.)
