GOSESO is an indigenous-led educational institution established in order to respond to evolving local demands in natural resources by recognizing the needs of indigenous people. The creation of GOSESO was preceded by extensive research that investigated a wide range of livelihood factors without limiting the analysis to natural resources. GOSESO is located in heart of Kitobe Forest in Western Tanz

ania, a fertile and mountainous rift valley within walking distance to the world-renowned Gombe Stream National Park and Lake Tanganyika. Our proximity to these special places provides a unique opportunity for students and faculty to be involved in biodiversity research, conservation, and education. The vision of GOSESO is to use an indigenous, grassroots approach to foster a new generation of Africans inspired by environmental stewardship, community self-reliance, and economic sustainability.

GOOD NEWS!

In memory of Dr. Yared Fubusa (and his mother Skolastica), a group of his friends in the U.S. has founded a non-profit organization called Friends of GOSESO. This week the organization was granted 501(c)3 status by the IRS (Internal Revenue Service), which means that donors to Gombe High School can now receive a tax deduction for their donation. We plan to have a website up in January 2026 with more details. Our mission is to support Yared's vision. You can contact us at [email protected]. We have a bank account with Wells Fargo, as well as Zelle and Venmo. Just in time for Giving Tuesday!

Huyu samaki wa umeme pia anapatikana Ziwa Tanganyika, anaitwa "Nyika". Na kuna samaki wengine wa njano wanaruka wanaitwa "Tanga". Hapo unapata jina "TangaNyka." Ndio maana Utanganyika uko kwenye damu na mishipa ya miili yetu.

Picha ya 2011... Nikiwa nafundisha kipindi kwenye mtaala wetu wa "elimu bila kuta" wa Gombe Schools (Kiganza, Kigoma). Hawa ni wanafunzi na maprofesa kutoka chuo kikuu cha Longwood University, Virginia, USA... nilikopatia digrii ya kwanza.

Kwenye taifa lenye mikataba mingi ya siri, tusije kushangaa siku tukikuta na haya maziwa ya Tanganyika nayo yameuzwa mazima.

Hakuna maana ya kufunga ziwa kubwa k**a Tanganyika ambalo toka linaumbwa hakujawahi kuwekwa hata meli moja ya uvuvi. Kwa hiyo kuna samaki wengi hawajawahi kuvuliwa tokea ziwa linaumbwa.

Pia, Ziwa Tanganyika huwa lina tabia la kujifunga lenyewe kwa miezi mitatu kila mwaka... Inaitwa "ndenga", kipindi kinachoanza miezi hii.
