Nyota Njema, which means Bright Star in Swahili, is a unique and innovative center in Bagamoyo, Tanzania which facilitates early childhood learning, development and growth. Nyota Njema was founded in 2010 by Prudencia Mahoka, one of few teachers in Tanzania trained in the Montessori method. The mission of Nyota Njema is to create an atmosphere where creativity, critical thinking and equality is cu

ltivated and encouraged in each child. Nyota Njema is the only preschool in Bagamoyo which provides this type of interactive, sensory-based, self-initiated learning, and one of few in Tanzania. Prudencia or Mwalimu (teacher) as she is called by her students, is committed to providing the guidance and love necessary to develop strong foundations which continuously encourage the children to flourish.
