Constantine's International School was founded in 1952 by the Greek immigrant community that originally settled in East Africa in the 1920 and 30’s. The school’s original classrooms were next to the town’s only Greek Orthodox Church. Though our school is secular and non-denominational, welcoming pupils from every religion and culture, the church itself is still part of our current 35 acre campus.
By the mid 60's the school evolved into an English medium school and in 1998 adopted the Cambridge International Curriculum. From its humble conception in 1952, St. Constantine's is renowned for both our student's sports and academic achievements. The school is owned by the Hellenic Foundation of Tanzania, a not for profit organisation, who ensures that the school can continue to contribute to the country which welcomed their ancestors over 90 years ago. St. Constantine's International School is a co-educational, day and boarding school, serving 580 students (including 75 boarders) from over 30 different countries. Originally serving just a few dozen students, St. Constantine's has evolved into one of the premier English medium schools and the largest international school in northern Tanzania spread over two campuses: the Main Burka campus and a small Town Campus. Offering a great educational value at a reasonable price, St. Constantine's International offers a comprehensive university and college preparatory curriculum model on the international Cambridge curriculum. Our programme prepares students for universities anywhere in the world and the school’s alumni occupy positions of importance in industry, government, education and NGO's in Africa, and across the world. The school year consists of three terms each of approximately 3 months. Term I is from September to December; Term 2 runs from January to March; and Term 3 from March to June.
