Students of Fort Lewis college and Tengeru institute of Community development, On 1st -10th of August 2017, had conducted the research on food insecurity a case study of Boma ngo'mbe, in Hai District at Kilimanjaro Region.
The main objective of this research was to know how the target population have been affected in the area of food security by the changing climatic condition of the region, and how does it affected their family income level, the general family and community health status, and what are the adaptive strategies do the people have to rescue the problem currently and in their very near future, so that they can reduce the food insecurity in the region and restore their family income as well as the Health which is the heart of every single being in the community .
The research collected data concerning household’s composition, food production, sales of food crops, income sources, access of households to services and inputs, adoption of improved agricultural practices, and food consumption. Furthermore, the research included questions related to the health and nutrition.
The research work was conducted in a smooth, free, safe and inclusive environment at the center of community, where this work had opened and welcomed the chance to gain more insight view of how life of the people in the rural region are truly are, and this had opened an eye to many issues related to community and paused a question for us as young men and community development workers on how to respond to community needs and the world challenges.
Beyond that, We are glad to say this two parties have made a good connection to each other , and that it has been a great new experience and exposure, in learning and understand culture diversity.
Thank you for all who facilitated this work in one way or another.
Special thanks goes to Professor Mr David Kozak, Madam Jessica hadback, Madam Janeth Zemba , Mama Dee , and all my friends from fort Lewis college and Tengeru institute.
With Love,
Simon.
