受疫情影響,教室目前不再收新生。🙏🏻 We are no longer accepting new students at the studio. Thank you for your interest.

最近練習老師發現我 mayura 怎麼做那麼快。我很皮的說我停留了五個飛速呼吸。老師說:「我寧願你停留一個紮實的呼吸。你們的練習就是這樣,所以一直反覆輪迴,沒有辦法進步。」

老師那天的話我一直記在心裡。我想我們每個人都是這樣吧。總想著今天一定要努力做些改變,但一個分心又用同樣錯誤的方式做事。

老師叮嚀我。我叮嚀自己的學生。一代一代的傳承八肢走向自由的練習。

體位法是外相的練習,呼吸法給予其中的內涵。而凝視點則是心法。心不定無法,無法自主。願我們都能秉持八肢心法,不受雜念的影響。

The other day Mei caught me doing a half-ass mayura. I told her I held it for five rapid breaths and she said she would have preferred that I held two steady ones. Then she proceeded to lecture me on how instead of using the practice to free myself from my old habits, I was using it to reinforce them.

I think we all do it. We start the practice thinking we’ll do better today but then at some point we lose our focus and slip back to our old patterns. Day after day, we slip and we fall from grace again and again.

Asana is the shape we embody, pranayama gives it substance and dristi brings liberation. Let us never lose our dristi and get sidetracked by silly things.

週六的新月是18個月來的結尾。和八肢寶貝們相遇也差不多是18個月前。因為她們我有了發表一級學習成果的機會。而最近來的新同學更讓我第一次帶學生練完一級的練習。我想可以圓滿的讓自己從八肢老師的角色畢業了。希望大家接下來都能找到適合自己的練習空間。讓八肢的練習陪伴大家繼續成長。

The last new 🌚 moon marked the end of the last eighteen months. When I looked back all the things that I was most proud of were things I did as a service to the community. I’m a deeply flawed human being but the practice keeps me honest. You my students keep me hella honest and I’m so so grateful to each and everyone of you. You’re all super amazing and I wish you the very best on and off your yoga mats.

Time for some heart to heart. There are parts of me that I show proudly to the world. There are parts of me I hide in the closet. When I practice they meet heart to heart as one steps away from the striving and the other away from the shame and together we rest in our playful innocence and unconditional love.

12月開始平日課三3堂,週日4堂。最近慢慢開始找回對體位法的熱誠。要進修提升。而且要更專心於一個工作項目。

Gonna start cutting back on some teaching hours next month. Will be limiting weekdays classes to three classes per week. Same goes for Sunday (can add an additional class occasionally).Too much to do and too little time. Thank you for your support and understanding. 🙏🏻☺️🙏🏻

大家都說 karanda 難,我覺得孔雀和鱷魚才是真正的魔王。練了一年也沒什麼長進。所以如果有什麼動作對你來說特別難,不要氣餒。這些動作都是在幫助我們正視自己的盲點。時間到了,我們準備好了,就能自然的解鎖。

And I thought Karanda was hard. These two poses absolutely kill me. Been a year and I still suck. So don’t feel bad if you’re struggling with any particular poses. We all struggle. Struggling is how we grow.

理查自由人說過語言最終也只是一種象徵,所以傳達的任何道理都沒有所謂的絕對性。我們活在思維和言語的羅生門,所以我們批判,我們比較,我們驕傲,我們自卑。因為思維的扭曲,我們用言語傷害彼此。Ahimsa (不暴力)和 satya (不說謊)是Yama裡其中兩道。Yama 有束縛的意思,像是繩子捆住我們幼稚狹隘的思維。在成熟前,Yama保護我們不做傷害他人和自己的行為。有一天當我們的心智純淨,就不再需要這條繩子。八肢的練習也是這樣。dristi, pranayama, asana 三條繩子纏繞在一起,束縛我們不成熟的思維。但是當練習成熟 pranayama 裡的 Yama 就成了 ayama 自由擴張。想要真正的自由就要先培養自律。時間到了,有一天繩子會像繭般,脫落退去,精神的翅膀就能帶我們回到靈魂真正的家。 Keep practicing. All is coming. 🙏🏻

Verbal cues are ultimately words and symbols and will always leave something to be desired. Touch, however, has the ability to bring the subconscious to the surface. We say something is touching when it moves us deeply. The ashtanga practice relies heavily on physical cues. When a student doesn’t want to be touched a teacher must take note. Can we use verbal cues to coax her into safety and once she is there, can we touch to comfort and support to bring about individual and collective healing?

How do we touch to liberate the breath? How do we bring about the ayama or expansion of the pranayama. We must first practice Yama. We restrain the breath from going wild and then we let the breath lead us to safety and freedom. So much of the ashtanga practice can only be felt and experienced when you put in the work. Richard Freeman says, practice all day, everyday. Keep practicing. All is coming. 🙏🏻

懶惰是一種很恐怖的東西。常常想懶惰一下,結果一天就過去了。想懶惰一天一個禮拜就不見了。再懶惰下去越來越沒動力。八肢的練習這麼嚴格其實就是要預防懶人病。😂🤣

有時候我也會犯懶,所以就拖著自己去找老師。老師在懶惰蟲🐛就會一下變成一條龍🐲。

希望大家都有個讓自己長長志氣,專治懶人病的好老師。

When you’re feeling lazy, that’s when you should definitely get your ass on the mat. Make sure your person is there with you so you can’t half-ass it.

Mei’s been my person the last few weeks. I’m truly grateful. Thank the lord imma be getting that first jab finally.

從Karanda 開始,
幾乎每個動作都要老師扶著。
搖搖晃晃也來到二級的七個頭倒立。
像是馬拉松的18到20-mile 的牆,
內心只想著其實現在就能停下來。
但是老師象徵著未來更堅強的自己,
所以只能看著老師慈悲的笑臉,
再難再恐怖的動作至少多試一次。
而且一路上還有同學的支持。
我想這種精神上的連結
才是真正讓彼此不怠惰、精進的力量。
希望我們都能透過八肢遇見最棒的自己。

These headstands feel extra challenging after I’ve been going at it for an hour and half. It feels a bit like the 18-20mile mark of a marathon. You just wanna call it a day and get some food in them belly! 🤣🤷🏻‍♀️ but having Mei next to me makes it a little easier. Swipe to see her showing me how it’s done.

Cakrabandhasana also felt a bit different after the three headstands. It almost felt easier to recruit mula bandha honestly. Gnarly!

It was a full room today. Been a while since I saw and the other ladies. 好久不見真開心。🥰🥳

剛才發現今天是獅子🦁️新月。
難怪早上練二級一股狠勁。
今晚要平衡火星的能量,
對自己少一點批評和逼迫。
也要利用新月的能量歸零,
問自己:「現在的我真正需要的是什麼?」

Mei gave me the last of the sitting postures of the intermediate series yesterday. I’ve officially made it to the seven deadly headstands.

Ashtanga is so strange that you have to wait for the next pose. You wait for it to be given to you. It’s a bit like anything in life. You struggle, you beg and you fight and nothing comes. Or you push, you run, you are ambivalent and everything comes.

Some of us sanctify this practice because nothing seems sacred anymore. Some of us use it as a healing tool in a world of hurt. Some of us chase it for the highs and in the process learn to live with the lows. Whatever gets you on your mat today, ride it out and say, “yes” or if you are like me, say, “hells yeah!”

上個週末八肢寶貝們回來玩。
教室三級警戒後很久沒那麼熱鬧。
很多人都說長大以後
真心的朋友會越來越少。
我只覺得瑜珈讓我發現
當我們用真心去對待彼此,
不管長多大,也不會寂寞。

居然跟你們這三隻認識一年多了。
