In our most recent ScratchJr session, students focused on fluency and purposefulness in game design. We reviewed yellow trigger blocks, with a specific emphasis on using “message blocks” to build more complex game logic.

Through hands-on practice, the children explored these game strategies:
🏃 Obstacle Course: A character jumping over continuous obstacles.
🐟 Interactive Catch: Three fish darting across the screen. Catch one, and the others panic, hide, and cautiously return.
🚇 Spatial Navigation: A character walking into a tunnel on one side of the screen and emerging on the far side.

Our young coders tackled yellow trigger cards and control blocks to turn their imaginative stories into awesome “Maze,” and “Catch the Fly,” games. 🐸🪰 But here is the best part: we used physical ScratchJr cards for unplugged algorithmic challenges! 🧩
