Chunghwa Telecom Foundation and NCCU ICI are recruiting 2 international students to volunteer for 2 weeks at a children and youth shelter in Puli, Nantou. You’ll share your culture, play with kids, and experience local community life.

📅 Service dates: July 7–18, 2026 (10 service days, arrive July 6, leave July 19)
📍 Location: Chen Chou Social Welfare Foundation, Puli, Nantou
👧 Who: International students in Taiwan (NCCU ICI students prioritized), patient, responsible, and enjoy being with kids
🕒 What you’ll do: Spend time with children and share your culture through daily interactions and simple activities.
🏠 Accommodation & meals: Free on-site accommodation, daily dinner provided

【創新國際學院、亞際學程｜藝術作為公共領域 Feeling Political: Art as Public Sphere in the Cross-Strait Worlds 】

🎨 藝術如何成為政治表達的公共場域？
How can art function as a public sphere for political expression?

在兩岸脈絡下，藝術與政治的關係正經歷劇烈轉變。近年來，中國的美術館經歷興衰，揭示了藝術產業與金融體系的糾葛，也反映出公共空間逐漸收縮的現實（Hsieh 2021; Fei 2025）。與此同時，台灣的藝術家與機構則越來越多地回應地緣政治議題，以不同形式進行政治實踐。
In the cross-strait context, the relationship between art and politics is undergoing dramatic transformation. The recent boom-and-bust cycle of museums in China reveals the entanglement between art institutions and the financial sector, as well as the shrinking space for public political expression. Meanwhile, artists and institutions in Taiwan are increasingly engaging with geopolitical tensions through their work.

本次講座中，謝一誼老師將從其新書《Flora and Fauna: Domestic Nature and Private Collecting in Reform Era Beijing》（2025）與展覽《Contested Waters》（2024–2025）出發，探討私人收藏如何成為另類的公共領域，以及藝術在兩岸政治語境中的多重角色。
Drawing on her recent book Flora and Fauna (2025) and the exhibition Contested Waters (2024–2025), Dr. Hsieh explores how private collecting emerges as an alternative public sphere, and how art navigates political possibilities across the Taiwan Strait.

Welcome to Taipei Main Station Hall｜Screening & Discussion

🌿 在台北車站的大廳裡，有一個許多人熟悉卻未必真正理解的場景。這部紀錄片記錄四位來自印尼、在台灣工作的女性看護工，她們在雇主家中照顧長者與孩子，在休假日則來到北車，席地而坐、聊天、慶生、分享食物，把這裡變成自己的「客廳」。

🌿 In Taipei Main Station, there is a scene many people have seen, but not always understood.

This documentary follows four Indonesian women working as caregivers in Taiwan.

On their days off, they gather in the station hall, sitting on the floor, chatting, celebrating, and sharing food—transforming the space into their own living room.

🌿 在這個空間裡，她們暫時擺脫「看護工」的身份，成為創作者、紀錄者與分享者，也讓我們重新思考跨國女性移工、勞動與生活之間的界線。

🌿 In this space, they step beyond the identity of caregivers becoming creators, storytellers, and sharers of their own lives.
It invites us to rethink the boundaries between migrant women’s labor and their everyday lives.
