Taipei Language Institute (TLI) was founded in 1956 by Dr. Marvin Ho (Ph.D. Linguistics, Brown University) who has been revered as the father of Chinese teaching in Taiwan. Chinese teachers at TLI are all native speakers, with Bachelor’s degrees and over 100 hours each of theoretical and application courses specific to teaching Chinese as a second language. TLI has developed and published over 400
internationally renowned sets of teaching materials. We have over 20 branches across the world, but our international influence doesn’t stop there. Many of our teachers have taken our unique methods to international schools including Stanford University, Yale University, Brown University, Cornell University, Princeton University, University of Chicago, University of California-Berkeley, Defense Language Institute, and Foreign Service Institute. We have successfully trained over three hundred thousand students including world-class figures such as several US Ambassadors, professors and presidents of prestigious universities, and Cross-strait representatives from major news agencies such as Associated Press, United Press International, New York Times, Washington Post, Times Magazine, CNN, Reuters, and The Telegraph, amongst others. TLI has a legacy that we are proud of and aim to keep alive for many years to come. Come be a part of our great tradition!
