Riki Lo, a Chinese-Canadian and former Acting Chairperson of the Chinese Straits Jewelry Exchange Association, was invited (May 27) to attend the early Canada Day celebration hosted by the Canadian Trade Office in Taipei (CTOT). During the event, he shared insights on jewelry trading experiences between Taiwan and Canada with the attending guests. Executive Director Marie-Louise Hannan celebrating Canada Day alongside distinguished guests. The prestigious gathering brought together foreign media as well as political and business elites; notable attendees included Toi Windham, Chairwoman of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Taiwan (CCCT), and Sean Kelly, Vice Chairman of CCCT, who joined prominent international dignitaries in dressing for the occasion to jointly promote friendly economic, trade, and cultural exchanges between Canada and Taiwan.

By exploring innovative approaches to gemstone legacy and sustainability, the speakers provided collectors and dealers with constructive frameworks for systematic management, alongside rigorous standards for authentication and provenance tracking.
The vibrant atmosphere carried over into the post-event banquet, where the visiting scholars were deeply moved by the hospitality of the major association chairpersons from Northern Taiwan. This cross-sector engagement vividly demonstrated the synergy between Taiwan’s jewelry industry and the academic community. Dr. Nyfeler highly commended the Chinese Straits Jewelry Exchange Association, describing it as a well-organized, vibrant, and professionally cohesive group.

The coordination and hosting of our international guests were facilitated by Director Riki Lo of Empire Intellectual Property Translation Agency. As a professor of Business English and a lead translator for high-level government agencies, I have consistently observed this principle in action.
