親愛的家長：
您們好！
我們將開設新的班級，招收對象為
今年九月，將就讀幼稚園中班或大班的孩子們，上課時間為每週一與週四的16:30-18:30。

若您們對於此新班級有興趣，請讓我們知道🙂

目前有三位家長已向我們表明報名意願，此班級若有五人報名，我們將於八月正式開班！

Pandemic Learning Loss Is a National Crisis But does the US have the political will to fix it?

Did you know that:

By the time your child goes to preschool, she has already been in contact with her native language a total of 20,000 hours or more?

Learning to read gives a major boost to your child’s metalinguistic awareness?

Learning to read in a second language gives another boost to your child’s metalinguistic awareness?

Your child’s vocabulary grows at a rate of between several hundred and several thousand words per year depending mainly on how much and how widely your child reads?

That learning to read and speak fluently in a second language can more than double your child’s vocabulary when compared to a monolingual person’s vocabulary?

That, due to your child’s innate ability to acquire language and how her body—particularly her brain—develops, there is most likely a critical period for her first and second language acquisition?

We’ll explain more about how these truths inform our decisions about how to assist your child in acquiring a second language in January!

One of the many reasons we at LW love working with kids is that they constantly remind us what it means to experience the world through a set of extremely curious senses! We’ve learned quite a bit from them over the years:).

親愛的各位家長：

又到了這個時刻！活水英語學習中心 （LW）將要於2022年的二月開設新班級，其招收對象為學齡前的孩童 （中班和大班）。在接下來的幾個月當中，我 （CJ Teacher） 將會在這個Line群組發佈許多很棒的資訊、圖片以及錄音檔，以讓您和您的孩子能夠更好地瞭解LW的期待，並選擇加入LW這個大家庭。

我們的Open House將會於2022年的1月8日下午5點，在LW舉行！我們歡迎任何家中有學齡前幼兒的家長們前來，不僅能第一手認識LW的文化，也能了解我們為何相信LW能夠庇佑孩子們未來的學習成長。我們有許多要討論的，因此千萬別錯過！

第二個重大宣佈：

目前LW的部分班級有些少空缺，若您家中有國小學童，同時您也有意願於下學期加入我們，請私賴我。

Living Water has a representative in the U.S.A. this year! Samuel is officially enrolled in high school. So proud of this boy. After his assessment, they placed him in the eleventh grade (he just finished ninth grade in Taiwan)! LW is so thankful for all the time, care, and effort the teachers at Longan Elementary School and Jinhwa Middle School put into educating Sam. I personally did not realize just how excellent the teachers of Daan District were until life forced formal assessments onto us.

So again, thank you to all of those involved in education in Taipei! In a world of negative news, know this:

Taiwanese education is rather excellent.

Finally, for all of you out there who are considering having your child pursue AB bilingualism (i.e. close to equal proficiency in two languages), LW‘s experience continues to be that this is a worthy, meaningful, life-altering early childhood education. Regardless of whether or not your child studies English at LW, we encourage all Taiwanese to find a way to provide quality bilingual education for your children. May you be blessed in this endeavor!
