Giant Clams
Larval clams are planktonic, they become sessile in adulthood. The creature's mantle tissues act as a habitat for the symbiotic single-celled dinoflagellate algae from which the adult clams get most of their nutrition. By day, the clam opens its shell and extends its mantle tissue so that the algae receive the sunlight they need to photosynthesize. They have an average lifespan in the wild of more than 100 years.

Macolor macularis, or midnight snapper, is a nocturnal predatory species that feeds on larger zooplankton, fishes, and crustaceans. It can be found as a solitary fish or in schools, sometimes in mixed schools. It is a long-lived fish, with many attaining ages of 40–50 years.
