法律學院原為法學院下之法律學系，經民國八十五年六月十五日舉行之八十四學年度第二學期第二次校務會議第一次延會決議通過升格為院，並經教育部同意自八十七學年度起，將原法學院分設為「社會科學院」及「法律學院」。但因院址未確定的關係，至民國八十八年八月兩院始正式分立。民國八十八年八月法律學院正式成立，除原有系所外，並積極推動科際整合法學教育，奉准於九十三年八月一日起新設「科際整合法律學研究所」並正式招生。
